ok factory radio and speakers, when i turn the radio up more than half way it cuts in and out.... the radio doesnt shut off... just the sound... i took the factory amp and sub out... is that why it does it... also sometimes when i shut the car off and the auto lights are on the radio lights flicker real fast.... i checked all fuses and they are good ive never messed with the factory harnesses or speakers i just want to be able to turn it up louder than half way :)

There is most likely bad solder joint(s) somewhere in the radio. You can get another OEM radio, get yours repaired or go with an aftermarket head unit.

A few people have had their radios go out in these cars including myself. You can go the OEM route replacing it or there is a thread on here for a good upgrade with a radio from a Ford Escape. Cost are about the same.

Mine was out of tune and I was going to be charged over three hundred
dollars for it to be repaired. It finally started working when I was passing
through south Ga. Just returned from Gatlinburg and had some static
but if finally went away after hitting the automatic tune button several
times.
Good Luck.

Waymon (1st Merc) found this (http://www.videoservicestop.com/radiorepairs/ford.htm) place and was happy with their service. It's only an hour from me and I've spoken to them on the phone at length. $157 flat rate no matter what's wrong.

4drpower: No flip up DVD players that I know of will fit in our car due to the dash overhang. I tried a small indash from VR3, but the touchscreen was crap and the face moved too much whenever you touched the thing. If you want DVD, you'll likely need custom work to get one to fit or drop $1000+ for one that is 1.5-2 DIN.

put in a double din pioneer system.
You will be a happy camper after your done.
I put in a Pioneer AVH-BT3200 DVD receiver.
Just have to trim the lips around the radio bezel, I used a dremmel tool and a sanding wheel.
PM me for information and pricing.
