This is for those who have insalled new mufflers.
Does anyone have any numbers, be they dyno, or track, of a pre installed set vs. a post installed.
Same for the Filter, or a combenation of the two.
These are the two least expensive mods that can free up a couple of ponies here and there, and what I maybe able to talk the wife into, but I want to know if there is ANY numbers I can be shown to support doing it.

I changed my mufflers for one reason: sound. :D

I'd change my mufflers for sound too. I think our exhaust is already pretty terrific for stock (other than sound.) If I were to make a big engine mod I'd probably want headers but thats about it.

Fourth Horseman.....how much better do the Flowmaster 40's sound? Did you have to change or modify any of the rest of the exhaust system to install them.....
thanks...

They sound a lot more aggressive on acceleration. For instance, pulling away from a stop light, even if you're not really pulling hard it has a deeper, more throaty tone than the stock mufflers. The shop had to work some hangers for me, but for the most part it was just cut out the old mufflers and weld in the new ones. Nothing drastic was required and the installation took about an hour.
I'd say it's probably 25% louder than it was before, but I'm not getting any harsh resonance or droning at highway speeds or anything. I paid about $175 each for the two Flowmaster 40s and about $30 for installation. I don't know if that's a good deal or not, but it was at a shop close to where I live which made it convenient.
I'm pretty happy with the results. I was thinking of having my half brother build a cats back custom system for me, but the more I thought about it the more I thought it just wasn't worth the effort. As tetsu said earlier, the stock system is pretty nice as it is.

Would you happen to remember what the part number for the flowmasters was? Or what application and car they were for, I mean, are they the ones for a 03 Musgang GT or do they make one for the Marauder?

No, they weren't custom manufactured for the Marauder. They just checked to see which side the pipes would have to connect to and then got the right model.
I'll check the part numbers for you tonight when I get home and then post them here.

Flowmaster Series 40, P/N 42441...$90.00 each and $100.00 parts and labor to install (2.5 hrs.). Make sure they anchor the MEGS in the exact factory position. They are flared and if they twist or droop even a little it will be very noticable. Worth the hassle!

Yup, that sounds like the right part number. My shop charged different amounts for the parts and labor than what bozobill quoted, but the totals work out to be about the same.
