View Full Version : Aluminator sb
What would be the highest HP level you could safely push an Aluminator SB too? I'm looking for somewhere in the 600/650 RWHP next year. :bat::bat:
Its essentially a Cobra Longblock so 800 rwhp safely

i know a guy that has been runing 780rwhp on a stock cobra motor for over 60k miles with out a ingle hicup. and he abuses the car
I've got a line on a 10.1 NA for cheap, is this ok for 650 RWHP or do I need the 8:5.1 ?

either will handle the hp, but with the eaton i think you would be better off with the 8.5. if its really cheap swap the pistons

The 10:1 will work. I hope you are converting to E85 then the 10:1 will be ideal

i dont think you would be able to hit the 600rwhp mark on the 10.1 combo with just the blower. maybe nitrous.i would say no more than 550rwhp on race gas.
like Dave said you would be better off with lowe compression.
correct me if im wrong, but im speaking from past experience.

Im pretty sure he knows that and will be upgrading the blower.

Here's what I'm planning this winter,
Aluminator SB/NA
LTH
Posi Port Eaton to 16lbs.
Posi Port lower
Killer Chiller with blockoff valve
E-85 and 80lb inj.
Dual GT-40 return style
Beefed tranny with converter
and hopefuly Kurgan will get his butt back up here so I can get another one of his killer tunes again.

you will still be hard pressed to get 600hp, im not an expert but im not even sure if its possible. i would definitely like to see how far you can push it though
You wont get 600rwhp with that combo. Dont waste money trying to chase it, just get a Whipple
...and you dont use GT40 pumps in a return style.
You need to sump the tank and run twin Bosch 044's
The marauder tank is GARBAGE for big HP cars IMHO...sump it and forget it.

Cobra short/long block.
Doom, the aluminator is better as it is lighter. same internals.

I'd have to agree with you on this Zack I'll be lucky to get 560 so a 100 shot will be needed. I won't have enough cash for a Whipple after all these mods. :(

the point is to skipp all those and go for a whipple. everything you listed will easily run over what it will cost to find a used whipple.

Do you have any pics on how to sump the tank?
How to wire the pumps?
BAP?
Is the FRPS still needed with a return system?

Mustangs and FF did a compare of low vs high compression on an S/C the high developed ~4% more HP. In the days of yore with carbs you had to go with the lower compression on an S/C or Turbo. Today with computers and FI it is no longer necessary to go with low compression on an S/C or Turbo.
If I decide to go with a polished 3.4 would it clear my hood?

No, gotta have a cowl hood.

Duh!
But everyone isn't worried about a weight diffrence. (80#)
terminators are cheaper and you get the same results!
Unless you're a competition drag racer worried about weight I wouldn't worry about it.
Just my opinion.

10 going in 8 on the return
Who did that return style fuel system thats pictured?
:puke:
That sump is huge first of all, way overkill.
And who chose the Aeromotove A1000???? That thing is bulky, LOUDER that Hell and needs a controller to turn the speed down so it will actually last.
FYI on fuel lines, with a -8 feed and -6 (or the factory fuel line now the return) it will support 850rwhp on E85 no problem.

I did & i chose the A-1000 i like it, had Dennis do the sump for me, he did what the customer (ME) wanted. I'am happy with the results, i was sucking air before i had the sump done. Zack I'am old & use to doing things my way, i don't have your knowledge & can't do what was easy at one time. MY car, my $$$$, I enjoy it my way. :)

the aeromotive a1000 is an excellent pump, i bought two of them in 96' under the paxton brand for my 87 buick i run a -10 line to the rails(dual regulators), and -8 return, i dont use a controler and the pumps run fine, ill also use one on my mm when i redo the feul system.

Hey, didn't Sean H. start the rumor that intake lobes were 3° off from each other? ;) I'm suprised no one has ever tried to say the block would turn to thermite because there's aluminum and iron together in there... :D
BTW, Sean's books do have an incredible wealth of knowledge in them. You just can't take one book or person's word as gospel...
