I have been looking into old threads to see if i can find what i need to know but I need clarification on a couple things. I want to delete my rear cats but I want to know if it will throw a check engine code. I have a current Zach tune on my MM and i'm not sure if he turns off the rear o2 sensors or not. Also, will doing this affect my tune? I have deleted cats before and it seems to make a big difference on cars. I figure it's worth asking about. Thanks Guys!!

I am 99% sure that the 2nd set of cats is after the O2 sensors, so it won't trip a light. This is based on what I remember from being under the car and reading here, but it's 5:50am :bigcry: so no guarantees...

No guarantees on passing E-check as a result. Though the 2nd set of cats acts more as a resonator than anything else. You'd probably be okay there too.

You can delete the rear cats. Won't throw a code. You'll pass the emissions tests also unless there is something really wrong. You'll pass the visual test too, since most don't know that there are supposed to be 4 cats.

I had the 2nd cats deleted just one month ago.
I have a Zack tune.
No re-tuning; no check-engine light.
Going back from the engine: exhaust pipe (from manifold) to 1st cat; 1st cat to pipe with O2 sensor; then 2nd cat; then mid-pipes; then mufflers; and so on.

I can tell you 100% the O2's are not monitored for the rears within the tune.
Delete them you will not throw a single code.

Ok that's all I needed to know, It's on! i can't wait to hear what that 4V REALLY sounds like. I have an 03 Cobra too and my MM has a much deeper rumble . I have an X pipe on my Cobra now but even when I was running an offroad H this was still true. I'll be doing Aero mufflers and a resonator delete on the MM too. I'm really looking foward to the sound. ;)

I might add also that deleting the 2nd cats adds to a beautiful exhaust tone, and you will feel a bit of a difference for the good.

Oh, one quick note about emissions. I run collector plates, not historical plates, on my MM. With collector plates you don't need echeck so you can do whatever you want with the exhaust. These plates are really easy to get as long as you have a second car and the car qualifies, which the MM does. It really helps to have a copy of the Certificates ford offers for these cars too. You just get an application at the DMV and send it to the columbus office along with anything you can provide to help them move your application along (i.e. Pictures, cool documents, certificates)

Well this is good information that I wish I had upfront. Why not upgrade the Cobra exhaust and put the Cobra headers and midpipe on the MM? The Cobra setup is 2-1/2" Stainless the MM starts with 2-1/2" the reduces to 1-7/8" at the H section.

Would there be any other name for the "collector plates" you mention?
I'm asking because I want to look into this at the Ministry of Transport up here in Toronto, and see if there is anything like that up here.

Mike, this is good information! I wasn't sure how easy it would be to get the Marauder to qualify.

Do you have any of the Ford-specific information about the Marauder, or did you just send in some articles and stuff? I may very well do this in the spring.

If you got a Cobra, you def enjoy the sound better with the rear cats removed, Aeros and res-delete tips. I ran that setup for about a year and the other month ago I had my whole exhaust redone from stock manifolds back to tips. Sounds great now but I want louder again already. lol

My car had a deep rumble and was rather quiet. By just deleting the rear cats made the car MUCH louder then before. Be prepared for a totally different sound once they are deleted. I had no codes nothing more then a little more top end power and a lot more noise.

Before the rear cat delete.

I know collector plates are something that varies from place to place. They are called collector plates in Ohio and many states have similar plates to these, they just may be called something different. It helps to get the number to your corporate DMV and give them a call. As for how to get them, at least in Ohio, all I sent in is the Ford Certificate I ordered for it and I had no problem. Adding extra stuff many help it along a little quicker. They are really big on "limited production" so emphasize that if you don't have a certificate. When you get the plates it says COLLECTOR in huge letters at the bottom where the county usually is and it looks really cool. the only catch with these is that you have to renew these through the Columbus office every year. they make it really easy tho because they send you something a paper in the mail that you just mail down there every year.

I don't know how your local DMV office is Mike, but with mine all I have to do is show them that KBB considers car x a collector and that's good enough for them.

That's cheap considering he'd be in alot of trouble if he's caught. It's illegal to modify the emission system.

My shop called them "resonators". ;) He also charged me $75 to cut them out and weld in pipes. Now my tips are perfectly straight and the sound has doubled.
