Hi guys,
I've had a miss for a few days, so I got up early this morning to try swapping around my COPs with some old ones I have.
Did the passenger side ok, but when I got to the driver side and disconnected my K&N intake tube from the throttle body, the engine stalled immediately.
Does that sound normal?? It was only about 35° this morning, so I wondered if that could cause it? Engine had been running for about 5 minutes when I did this. I started it back up, and it ran about 30 seconds and stalled again. After a third restart it kept running.
Could there be something else wrong?
Thanks.

This is expected. Car needs MAF to run properly. When you pulled the intake tube, you pulled the MAF off too.

Ok. Thanks. I wondered if that could be part of it, but I've ran it before with the tube off, and never had it stall.

+1 The engine won't run right with unmetered air.

EEC (computer) says to itself.... "Hey, where is all this air coming from? What tempereature is it? How much is there? Holy crap ! What am I going to do? Somebody help me here. I need information, quick. Oh! I'm not liking this. Hurry, someone, anyone? Oh GOD, I can't keep this engine running. Let me throw some fuel at it.... Nope, more fuel.... Nope, more fuel.... Nope, less fuel, add timing, cut timing, WTF? .... Ah Crap! It stalled.
Each time you started it, did the same thing. Then the EEC learned to keep it barely running, although it still struggled. It needs input from the IAT and MAF sensors. (Intake Air Temp & Mass Air Flow) That thing in the airstream that has the wires going to it....
See how fast you can run if someone severs your spine just above your hips....

So let me get this straight... you were changing your C.O.P's with the engine running? You do know that's a extremely high voltage ignition system, may not kill ya but it's going to hurt like a mutha!!! :bigcry:

I was just unplugging them up top at the harness to hear if there was a change in how it was running.
Must admit, at first I pulled one off while it was running, and got quite the spark show. Won't do that again! :o

Forgot to mention, whatever I did seems to have fixed my miss (for now).
