I don't think the hood should have been left gloss.

agreed....
The hood looks like it's carbon fiber but they clear coated it. The hole car should be the same color in my opinion

I say yes because my roof and trunk lid are both going bad (bubbles and rust). So it either needs those repainted or the whole car done. I am leaning towards doing the whole car so I don't have to worry when the rest of it will go...
And if I do the whole thing, it won't be stock paint. Looking for thicker, probably polished multi-coat black with lots of clearcoat to protect it and keep it shiny.
But after seeing that Dupont Hot Rod Black, it is going to make the exact color of black a hard choice. That looks really nice. Not sure how it would look on the MM, though...

Marauder is too "big" a car for that paint, looks better on a smaller car like mustang.
IMHO :)

I'm with BDJ. Might change my mind if I saw a MM painted that color in person. While the Mustang looks good, it also looks like primer.

I say stock. But I'm an eccentric purist. By eccentric, I mean my Torino will have a raucous FE stroker, but must remain the original kinda gay-ish color, Gulfstream Aqua, and must remain bench front seat. Original outside, Nitrous swilling stroker inside. I think a limited production car should wear the color it's born with. I must be getting old...:shake:

That satin/flat finish is just a bad fad. Walking around SEMA this week I seen so many cars painted like that...really sad.

I think the shiny hood is the best part.
That said, I think the MM should shine

As a painter I have always question the durability of something like this? SImple fact get a scratch and not to deep you might be able to wet sand and buff and make go away if not thru the CC. How do you buff flat black with out making it shine? Definetly a fade I say 10yrs never see it. Iam going to redo my Blk 300A this winter take it all apart completly strip to bare metal and sesurface everything and do it 100% right. Iam seriously think about the black mettalic they put on the 08 500's, I think its on the fusions to it is a awesome black.

Also a lot of the cars at SEMA that had the dull black finish also had noticeable finger prints. The oil from your fingers really leave their mark.
It makes me think back to my teenager years when me and my buddys could not afford paint and went with primer until we could save up for a proper paint job.

Yeah no doubt for the most part you used to never see a OE black mettalic car now it seems quite a few manufaturers are offering something like that in there color lines. There would be no reason not to put mettalic in a black base it would be fine no problem there.

Flat black does not look good on anything built after 1959 ! Those are the only cars that can get away with the primered look.

That Cobra looks sinister in flat black. I just don't think I could do it to my car, I'm more for a sleeper look .

well I would but as particular as Iam from start to finish I would probably have it a month and half. I will only do it 100% right complete exterior tear down w/s-back glass taken out any and all exterior components and take it all the way to bare metal and resurface up from there using all the best products! Iam kinda fruit about my paint work.& Iam a firm beleiver in between steps (primers the veh needs a day or 2 in the sun that way any shrink happens before final guidecoat sand down. Black shows any kinda shrink from a VERY lite sand scracth to either primer or spot filler not being mixed!))%.correct. My Dupont rep is a very good friend and he always tells me you go above and beyond what you have to do, I tell him no I want it right the 1st time not take the certain painter cheater steps to push the product. make sense

I always thought we have the fact that our car's body are shared with police and taxis..working against us when it comes to flat black paint. Some people love it, some hate it so I guess its relative.
I honestly think it will not get nicer looking than the one I posted, and I'm not crazy about it.

Its called Tuxedo black. I have it on my Fusion and the metal flake really sparkles after a quick coat of wax. I was even thinking of making it my next color if I paint the Marauder. Most likely Ill go with the deepest black I can find and do a strong clearcoat.
