You would have to swap out the entire rear end assembly, just swapping carrier and axles wont work from what I understand.

The rear end assemblies are the same. At least the part #'s were when I checked.

Axles ? That's it? Not sure if I need those, I thought 31 spline axles only benefit you if your pushing massive power, so becides axles and driveshaft is that it? How about the whole transmission 4r75w I think no?

The transmission will work but only on the '04, whether it's a upgrade I dunno...

I'm going to soon be picking a '08 CVPI a buddy has...

I doubt the driveshaft has any benefit (good for a spare?), unless the newer PI's have a higher speed limit. It can have (probably?) 3 different optional rear axle ratios, so if it isn't a 3:55 gear, you would need a different program in your computer. Think about it--Ford went from 28 spline axles to 31's on all Panther chassis in 2006<, and that is with what, a massive 250 horsepower? You don't need 31's, but Ford figured out they did!

If you drive in the winter, the steel wheels are good for snow tires.
