Help Maraudr won't start

When I turn the key, all lites come on everything seems to work but engine won't start. Red light on top of dash is flashhing rapidly. Is there anything I can do besides towing it to the dealer? Battery is good, tried disconnecting battery to reset, still no luck. no aftermarket remote start or alarm. Does anyone know how to reset PATS system Thanks

When my battery died, it did the same thing. All the lights worked, all the bells and whistles, but the battery just didn't have enough juice to even click. I think when it gets that low, it blocks it from trying to start, and saves the power for door locks, emergency flashers, etc.

Yep the transponder in the key you are currently using could have failed...

Because I only got one key for my '98 Grand Marquis when I bought it, I searched the the I-net for a way to defeat PATS & basically it ain't happening... Unless... The PCM is swapped for a Crown Vic police 'puter... Of course this swap doesn't apply to a Marauder... Only possible way would be for a tuner to turn the feature off, but most aren't going to want to do so and it's not really a good idea to disable the system...
