Hi,
I just joined the forum, and I am searching around for information on the Marauder. I plan on picking one up in the next few months.

Since the Marauders are a tad rare, it's kind of difficult to get a test drive in one to see if I like it. Will test driving a Crown Vic PI be a similar expereince?

Thanks,
Masa

Welcome!!!

The CVPI doesn't have the nice bucket's of the Marauder or it's rear air bag suspension, but if you can test a '03-up that isn't beat to death, I'd think they'd drive similar... I'm going to try to drive a 23K mi '08 next week, I can share my experience if I do...

You may want to try for a Crown Vic LX Sport or a Grand Marquis LSE(again '03-up), as both are similarly equipped to the Marauder, excepting of course for the 32v motor...

BTW only test '03 up CV or MGM as the chassis was stiffened, front end changed to coil over suspension, rack & pinon steering added and rear shocks were moved to outside the frame rail... I have a 39K mi '98 MGM and it doesn't drive nearly as good as my Marauder or '07 MGM and both have slightly more miles...

I had an 03 CV LX before I bought my Marauder. The get up and go obviously is vastly different and I find the seats more comfortable in the Marauder. But as far as weight and driveability, you can get an idea. The CV handled a little looser and the Marauder definitely corners better. Pretty good rule of thumb what ever your experience in the Vic, just picture it amped up in the Marauder.

Welcome Aboard

Where in the Bay Area are you? There are a few of us around and one of us might be convinced to provide you at least a ride.

I took a test drive in a Crown Vic LX Sport on the morning before I got my Marauder. IMHO the only thing that is the same is the view out the front window and in the rear view mirror. I found them to be vastly different. Of course, I had a really hard time getting past the Ice Blue interior and exterior on the CV since that was the one that was available for the test ride. And there were no Black CV LX Sports in stock at all. I rate the drive as only so-so. The MM was a completely different experience and I was "sold" in the first 1/2 mile. :D JMHO.

i have both an 03 vic lx and a 03 marauder and you can't really make a comparison.
especially the suspension and tires. not to mention the motor.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the site and car when you get it! As for similarities...... I agree the only ones are the views out the windows and mirrors.

Welcome to the site! Like Anthony said there are plenty of members in the Bay Area that are active on the site. Where are you located in the Bay?

Don't waste your time test driving anything but a Marauder. I'm sure anyone in your area would let you take theirs for a spin.....

^^I agree I scheduled a meeting with two sellers an 04 Crown Vic LX power everything, sun roof and only 30k silver birch; and a 03 Marauder. Luckily for me I had a meeting right next to the seller in Alameda (few blocks away). I rolled up in my 2K Stang and there she was sitting on the side walk; I was like yup she's MINE! I gave him a check right then and there took her home and left my stang at my buddies shop...lol Do yourself a favor and drive the Marauder first. If your close to Pleasanton I can meet you during the week.

Good Luck!

Wow. I didn't know there were this many Marauder owners in the Bay Area.

I live over in Redwood City, but I am frequently down in the San Jose area.

It'd be great to meet up sometime!

RWC. Used to live in San Mateo, now East Bay though I still work in SSF.

We have a couple of members in the South Bay and I know of a couple of non-member Marauders in SSF and SF.

Check us out in the West Coast Forum.

I have an 07 CV interceptor (as a patrol car) and the ride is similar. get up and go and was different. Handling is pretty similar. seats in the Marauder are way more comfy and the interior seems to be quieter as well

Everyone,

Sounds great. I'll check out the west coast group to see if there are any meets soon/nearby.

I think I am pretty set on getting a Marauder. I just need to find the right one now.

I'll post up as soon as I pick one up.

Whats your budget?

Pancho Masa

budget? I figure it'll cost about $13k-$15k for a good used model, and $2k for some maintenance items.

Since it's been a few years since 2003-2004, I figure most cars have a few miles on them.

I found a couple on autotrader in San Diego.
