Based on this site there sure seems to be a lot of Marauders in the Chicago area, New England, Texas, Florida and ???

Is there a way to know where they are registered? I would find a count by state interesting.

Massachusetts here and there are about 4 in my area that I know of. Three of them probably don't go on here. I never see any others than them though!

There seems to be quite a few of them in the Atlanta Area, I know of at least 8 members, but I have also spotted an additional 3 or 4 that aren't members

IIRC, Bluerauder had posted up a site a while back that allowed MM owners to register, and that indicated geographic area, don't have the link handy, but maybe he'll chime in.

Eastern seaboard definitely has the highest number of owners, with FL prolly the largest ownership state.

CAM has to be a close second.

I live in Round Rock, Texas and at one point there were 4 or 5 in my neighborhood and the adjacent neighborhood.

I did a search on the site and if you and I have the same map in mind it is/was on frappr and the site (not only our map) seems to be off the map.....

I did one of those threads for new england along and had like 40 marauders posting here from the new england area. I think it may have been even more.

Theyre all in P.G. County maryland.

I've tried to locate all in Minnesota, but the problem is there is no consistency in the way members enter their location. Some enter Minnesota or MN or Minnespolis etc.

Yeah, I don't know what happened to it. The "Frappr" map site appears to be gone. Here's the thread and the link >>>>> http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21956&highlight=frappr

How about how many went overseas, i know 480ish stayed in Canada. I remember reading about the Moscow police getting some.

Anyone have access to international distribution?

I don't think that there is any way to know for sure.

However, I have made an estimate based on the assumption that distribution across the states was equivalent to population distribution. Of course, some went to Canada and elsewhere. The list below shows the original distribution of the 11,052 Marauders by State, Territory and others. As of November 2010, attrition has taken an estimated 41% due to damage, loss or theft.

Breakdown per region originally was estimated as follows (by state breakdown estimate in the attached PDF file):

New England 489
Mid-Atlantic 1628
South Atlantic 1701
Mid-West 2265
Southern 1895
Southwest 1898
Pacific Northwest 459
Pacific Ocean (AK/HI) 68

US Territories 149
Canada 400
Other 100

TOTAL 11,052

BINGO!!!

Where they were delivered and where they are now are two different stories... When I was looking for mine, I checked on four or five using Auto Check that were within a couple hundred miles of me here in VA and ALL were northern(NY, MA, IL )cars, I never looked at even one... I made a deal on one in CA(seller backed out) that had been sold in Northern CA, second owner was in southern CA, then went to a TX auto auction, were it was bought by someone from Las Vegas who sold it to the owner I was dealing with who lived in northern CA... It went full circle...

I bought my car from Chicago, but it was in Arkansas till '09...

THIS IS ONLY AN ESTIMATE BASED ON POPULATION DISTRIBUTION

Here's a little different view of the "By State" estimated distribution of Marauders. Black numbers = Original Distribution of 11,052 MMs. Red numbers = Current estimate of remaining MMs as of November 2010.

The original average works out to be 1 Marauder for every 29,522 people. :D Now the average is about 1 MM for every 49,784 people.

With the exception of California and Texas, the overwhelming majority are East of the Mississippi.

Interesting info. All I know is I rarely see one in person. I believe over the six years I've seen maybe 4-5 in person in my travels between Buffalo and Albany, NY. Babbage is over in Syracuse and there are a couple others there, I've heard of possibly 3-4 in Utica area. A collector two towns over from me supposedly now has a black MM, but again, I've not seen it. Must be most of them are in the NYC area.

Ray, they are all under ground. It's a conspiracy here in NY. I only know of about 5 here in the Western New York area.

There has to be a lot more Marauders here in WI then the several local owners I do know, I am always seeing Marauders driven by people I do not know, one observation I have always noted :D is that I see Marauders all the time compared to the 02-05 Thunderbird of witch the made almost 68100 (not that scientific, yet interesting :))

I like your map Charlie!
Of course it assumes that there is an equal distribution of cool "I want a big Mercury 4 door sedan with a DOHC V8" car enthusiasts amongst the USA's population.
We know that there is a higher percentage in CAMland....heh heh heh....:D

Nice map. So there's 89 MMs stranded at sea in a US territory! And I would highly doubt that states like Montana, Idaho and Wyoming have more than 2-3 each.

80 in Puerto Rico and 4 in Guam, maybe. ;)

Ray, they are all under ground. It's a conspiracy here in NY. I only know of about 5 here in the Western New York area.

Could be ...... 49.2% of the New York population lives in the New York City area (including Long Island). That means that 193 MMs should be found in an area of about 1,870 square miles. So, in the NYC, there's one Marauder every 9.7 sq miles (3.1 miles by 3.1 miles). Sounds reasonable given the density.

The rest of the 200 MMs in New York are spread across the remaining area of 52,686 square miles. So out there in western New York that's about one Marauder every 263.4 sq miles (16.2 miles by 16.2 miles). If you know of 5 MMs in that area, then that's the equivalent of 1,317 square miles (36 mi * 36 mi). Make better sense now?

When I purchased my DTR (new) there were a total of three in all of upstate NY. Mine came from near the Canadian border way up north, DragCity bought the one in Buffalo and my dealer rejected the one Ravina near Albany due to bad paint. Don't know what ever happened to that car. As I said, they are few, far between and rare as hens teeth up here, in any color. The usual question I get from someone who knows what a Marauder is "where did you get that from?" Funny thing is the little Mom & Pop FLM dealer 10 miles from me sold 5 of them. He recently sold a King Snake Mustang, for sticker, no mark up... oh my aching wallet.
