View Full Version : so freakin pissed... someone backed up into the Vic!

Damn I hate working in the ghetto!
the parking spots are so small and no matter how I try to isolate my car in the farthers corner of the parking lot some dildo still managed to back their truck up into my 99 POS adding yet another dent to the array of dents I inherited from the PA State Police where I bought the car...
this truck, or bus, whatever the hell it was (and I certainly didn't see it because I was busy working) hit the top of the trunk lid on the right side and pushed in a clean area across the whole half of the trunk, leaving a clean mark that I just noticed while washing the car.... What a bummer!
Luckily when I opened the trunk there is an opening facing this flat part of the face of the trunk so hopefuly when I get the body work done on the right side (where its all dented in as if the Trooper side swiped someone) I'll get that trunk fixed as well) but it makes me so mad to see it!
Looks like even though at this new job I'll be able to make enough dough for a new car, I'll be stuck with my beater because its simply not safe to park anywhere where other people park! I mean if others have no regard for cars that look like police vehicles how can one expect others to have regard for a beautiful car like a Marauder or 2003 Grand Marquis?
Sorry for the ramblings but I just had to vent!

I was washing the car just now because we'll be doing a small photo shoot after school around 9'ish this evening with (hopefully) NYC in the backdrop so I'll try to take a shot of it.
this is what the trunk looked before it was dented...

and the damage on the right side:
http://www.superford.org/registry/users/779/537/99pos-2.gif
again the dent isn't bad but just the idea that people are so freaking careless drives me crazy! And we get a ton of Police surveilance in the shopping plaza I work in, too bad there are no external cameras or I'd go to the landloard and ask for tape in hopes of finding this mofo!
--Russ :(
on a sarcastically funny side if I get the Marauder spoiler I just might cover it up, what a silly excuse huh? (as you can see I'm trying to remain logical while I'm ready to scream and shout like crazy because someone damaged my baby!)

And of course the jack arse didn't leave a note, I'm sure. That really sucks, man. Sorry 'bout the car. :(

I'm very sorry to hear about that Russ. I live in constant fear that something like that is going to happen to my CV too. I've managed to find 2 parking spaces at work that were marked a bit wider than the others. I always try to get one of them so I'll have a few extra inches between my doors and the ******** who fling their driver's door open against the next person's car because they don't give a rip what their POS looks like! In spite of this the ******** STILL can't find the center of their parking space and they practically are on the yellow line between our two cars. Man, don't get me started! It burns me up when I read about stuff like this because I know how well you care for your cars! -Coop

All the reason why I take up TWO spots up at school. There's a little section with four spaces followed by concreat islands on the ends. My buddy with a Z28 is selling it and parks here as it's a great viewing point for people to see his car from the road. But, two cars (mine and his), four spots, it all works out. :D Administrators (guess their not as cool as you huh Logan? ;) ) get pissed as hell, but we don't really care. Isn't like they can even fit a tow truck in there to tow our cars! Hehehe... suckers!

that S - Steeda badge compliments my Steeda Cobra underdrive pulleys... and I like it more than the Ford oval, the guys at Sears were standing around my car last time I came to get some estimates on tires and alignment (not that I don't already know the prices, but was just shopping around for a sale) fighting over who gets to drive it once they get the work order... boy would they have been dissappointed (LOL the car is Weak!) I heard "Steeda!" mentioned in an impressive manner a few times as I approached my car...
anyway, I know the feeling about flinging doors, and in this case I do protect myself very well... I take the leftmost spot all the time so that the only person parking next to me is a fellow employee who is careful how he opens his doors in his Volvo (*older gentleman) and would never damage anyone else's car out of carelessness... What pissed me off the most about this incident was that some dumb ass backed up into my trunk from across the way, meaning some blabber mouth or just plain careless mofo was on the cellphone or in his/her la la land not realizing they backed out too far from their spot and it was now time to go forward, they probably heard the bang or felt the bump and sped off.... no matter how I try to prevent myself from stupid situations I just cannot account for all the stupid people out there.
I also just realized that our store camera points at the doors as people walk in and the car is clearly visible from there, unfortunately its too far to clearly read or recognize license plates even if it was caught on tape... but I'll get to the bottom of it! We also have security guards working Fri/Sat/Sun nights that are local Police Officers so I'll be sure to make a big fuzz about this... I'm still in denial though. I mean the only reason I didn't wash my car prior to today knowing that I'll have a photo shoot at night was because I was afraid of my luck... I knew if I clean the car I'm bound to get into an accident or something silly like that... but damn, the accident got into my car without even me being present! grrrrrr!

Know what your going through! I stoped a stop sign last Wednesday and a the driver behind me did not! I was impressed! The big Merc is one well built car! All I have is scratch on the lower back bumper. Not happy except the other driver is very willing to pay! I have been to the body shop and they put ny fears to rest! Stupid me that why I have the '87 F-150 (dailey ride). It was a nice day and some one at work wanted to see the the Marauder. (next time they can come to see me)

I agree that it can be a sure way to attract unwanted attention.. Either getting keyed or worse.
We had a problem with a guy doing that at my old office. After one too many complaints the building management they told his employer to resolve the problem...he responded inappropriately and now doesn't have a parking problem as they banned his tired butt from the parking lot....I guess he now gets to pay to park in downtown Atlanta (Not Cheap!)... The good news is he can buy two slots if he wants... In fairness keep in mind that in a lot of tight parking areas only so many slots are provided for each tenant...
I am lucky in that in my new office, on the first floor, I look right out the window at my MM...:D

Sorry to hear about your Vic.
Maybe I have the wrong attitude: I try to park away from other cars and be careful, but I don't really sweat it. I used to obsess over it, though.
Not long after I brought my Mustang home (she was my baby!) one of my OTHER kids hit it a pretty good lick by letting their bicycle fall over on the passenger door. I was angry but also amazed at the amount of damage.
The weekend I brought home my 97 TBird (which went on to become the down payment on the MM) a neighbor kid hit the driver's quarter panel and gave it a pretty good scratch. I told my wife then that maybe the good Lord was trying to tell me something - or maybe testing me!
Anyway: I guess I feel like these days with all the traffic and crowded parking lots and careless kids - it's just about bound to happen.

You're absolutely right mr. macon...
above you really saw a lot of vent because seeing the dent really did hurt my feelings, but there is nothing to be done about it at this point... I didn't catch anyone so I can't do anything about it....
I have the personality to talk a lot so thats why you see so many replies, and I'll probably blabber mouth about it at work to anyone willing to listen, I guess thats just my personality.
At the same time I do not let it get to my heart or any other sensitive part of my body because after all its just a car, and indeed it is my beater. I don't really sweat over where I park it, I just used the most logical spot when I started working there not too long ago, and just continued parking there because I thought it was safe, apparently not. No sweat over it but its just sad to see it happen.
I'm also really attached to my cars, I show that on my site www.jerseyvics.com but you won't be able to see it just yet because I moved it on a new server (www.svtperformance.com) Each of my cars I've had so far is unique to me and I do get very attached, but I move on, so I'll get over this incident as well.
I just needed to vent a little, I guess it made me feel better. Be careful you guys out there with your cars!

Well, around here people have consideration for their cars. And it's not like I take up two spots right up front, I park WAY out in east Jesus... I'll walk my happy ass across the whole lot in the rain to protect my car, doesn't bother me any... It's what ya gotta do to keep a straight car around here.

yea I walk thru the rain for a good while to get to my car often get sick as the result... but hey you do what you gotta do.
I was just leaving work tonight and found a few shopping cars right around my car at the end of the lot... my brain didn't exactly click to measure things at the scene, I was kinda rushing to go home sooner (A white boy in the black ghetto with a cop car is not a hood thing to go shine around in the middle of the night) plus I got things to do, well I now think that considering the damage it could have been a shopping car that was pushed into my trunk somehow backwards where the handle with the plastic cushion hit the trunk lid and did a clean line dent push in.... How does a store employee get re-imbursted for the store's property damage to the employee's personal property? Is that something I should even consider pursuing or should I shut up on the matter already?
let me know what you think fellas. your opinions matter.

About parking stalls: Along with the approaches mentioned (like parking far away) I also look for the very last stall in a line and park just over the edge line so the other car could never touch me and the other side is free and clear. If all else fails, park the car on an angle OTHER than the others so as to allow the doors of either car on each side of you to swing open (you have to visualize what I am talking about). For example if the cars are all parked on an angle towards the right side, park your vehicle angled slightly in the other direction (left) so the doors of the their cars have room to breath (you have to guage how much in or out the car is in the stall for perfection). I've had a few chicks think I was wierd for doing this (I'm not married yet) like the one I took to a Hockey game once; I quickly knew I wouldn't be marrying her. Good compatibility test! Speaking of which, I only once had a woman care enough to make sure there were no visibles in the back seat consistently. I love reading between the lines.
Not much you can do for nimrods backing there behemoth trucks into you though, you might have to bite the bone on that one (however that video camera that films your car at the entrance should at least show the type of car it was. Is this a color camera? I am willing to bet that this character frequents that lot from time to time; who knows it could be the Post Truck.

Russ,
If a shopping cart did the damage it is probably not going to be worth the effort to pursue...especially if you work there.
Most stores have a sign somewhere in the parking lot saying they are not responsible for damage to vehicles, a kind of "park at your own risk" warning. Your working at the store may make it even worse as if they won't pay customer claims why would they set a precedent paying an employee claim? Plus depending on your management's attitude you could be laying the groundwork for future problems in the company...
Just my opinion...

thats very true Wayne,
there's only one manager above me that works at that store, the store manager, I'm one of his assistant managers... there's also the district adn corporate people who I wouldn't dare bother about this, plus the job is way too important for me to loose it over a soft dent.
I guess I'll just keep this one. It does serve a good purpose though, working and going to school in Jersey's Ghettos doesn't hurt having a crappy looking car, the less likely it'll get stolen. (and the Panther Platform cars get stolen a lot especialy in Newark, big big livery business there)
thanks guys,
