Hey guys, I just had a quick question about the rear differential on the Marauders. All Marauder's have the Ford traction-lok limited slip rear differential, right? If that's the case and it being Marauder specific(assuming you can't get that on a GM), why in the world does the window sticker make no mention of it, especially when it goes into great detail about some of the other less significant Marauder specific features? I've owned a Lightning, and a Cobra in the past and the window sticker made it clear there was a LSD for both of those cars. Did Ford just forget to put that on the window sticker for the 04 Marauders?

Also, with just 2-3 inches of snow on the ground, the Marauder sure likes to go sideways when you disable traction control!

Haven't seen a '04 sticker myself, wonder what other 411 is missing. Anyway, Limited Slip is an option on a GM, but it's standard on the MM.

BTW, the '04 Marauder has it's own VIN now. Body code M79, rather than the M75 the '03 shared with the GM. Maybe this has something to do with the list of features?

junehhan The 03 sticker for my car "does not" mention limited slip either. Apparently they don't consider this feature worth mentioning. Keep in mind that although we are all very fortunate that this car made it to production, Ford treated this project like a mistake or afterthought from the beginning and it continues to this day....remember there really is no Marauder only an optional package of the Grand Marquis.

Hey the GTO in 1964 was an optional package for the LeMans.

It's unfortunate, but that's probably why the Marauder is suffering a similar fate to the 96-99 V8 Taurus SHO's as they are making the same mistakes with the MM.

Cruz, driving in snow on the stock tires is VERY interesting! I went to church this morning and there is a really steep ramp to get up to the parking lot. I had to take several whacks at it while FWD Camry's, Corolla's, and Taurus' were just walking up making me look wierd. Finally, I tried turning the traction control off and was able to maintain enough momentum to get up by spinning up a storm from the rear wheels and flinging snow behind me! I guess that's the one bad thing about traction control, is that when there is a situation that requires you to maintain your momentum, it really slows you down as it won't let you spin up your tires...........

Man can I picture that! Been there done that. You really should look into some snows if you are actually gonna DRIVE it in snow.

If you are interested in an alternative for under 5 large, PM me and I'll tell you about the Cruz package.

Cruztaker, thanks for the offer, but be actually don't get much snow here in Cincinnati. It's the northern part of OH near the great lakes that generally is always getting hit with massive snow storms. That's really why I can't justify spending the money for a set of steelies and snow tires as it just won't get used except for several days out of the year. Although the BFG G-force KDWS tires are a bit miserable in snow, at least traction control really does an impressive job keeping the Marauder going in a straight line. My only complaint, is that throttle tip-in is just way too abrupt on the Marauder which makes taking off from a stop under slick conditions very tricky.

Out of curiosity, what is this Cruz package you talk about?

"Limited slip" (trac loc) isn't an option on the GM, traction control is.
The only other "Panther" car that has limited slip as an option is the Police Interceptor.
Pretty much everything is standard on the Marauder. Most don't realise that when they complain about the MSRP and compare it to a Grand Marquis MSRP.

I can't remember what my window sticker says, but I thought it did indicate a trac loc rear.
The axle code for your car will be that for trac loc

My '04 window sticker does not say anything about Traction Lok or limited slip. The '04 Marauder brochure does list "3.55:1 limited slip" for the axel ration in the specifications section on the next to the last page. "limited slip" is also mentioned in the "Ready to Rumble" section.
