View Full Version : May I borrow your Marauder?

Here is the situation gang. A few months ago I was doing work for the Rock N' Roll Fantasy Camp. I drove a few of the high class musicians around in my Marauder before I had my engine problem. Everyone loved the car. It is slick looking, fast, comfortable and luxurious. I got a call today asking if I would be able to pick up some of the people from hotels to the camp this weekend. I told them my trucks transmission just went out... and it did after three weeks! I mentioned how my drummer has a Chevy Cavalier, but it's 2 doors. The camp wants a big sedan like our car. I already called up friends and family. No friends (outside of here) have big cars like ours. Parents need their sedan and so this place is my last resort.
Here is what would go on. I need to borrow someones car either early thursday (8am) or even wed (today). It will be returned monday. The car would be used just for picking up people NOT MUSIC GEAR. The car will be parked in a city garage during the day and my garage at night... I cleaned it out recently. No late night fun either.
Some of the musicians there will be...
Kip Winger -Winger
Dickey Betts -The Allman Brothers Band
Mark Farner -Grand Funk Railroad
Mitch Ryder -Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels
Rudy Sarzo -Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osborne
Joey Molland -Badfinger
In return all I can do at this point is fill it up, detail it (even if you wanna wait until spring) and get signatures from the musicians at the camp. I am fully insured and will not drive like a madman.
I know this posting seems weird, but it's all I can think of. I already looked into rentals, but making the camp cover something like that would cost over $700 for anything close to a Marauder. That is my last resort, but they all know the Marauder, they all love it.
Let me know if we can work something out. Or PM me if you don't wanna affiliate yourself with me.
Only helpful comments please, no criticism or rudeness.
Thank you for reading.

My advice is those musicians will have alot more respect for you if you are not being their chauffeur.

You can borrow mine. On 3 conditions.
1) It is cleaner/better shape than when you receive it. I don't even care if you beat on it a little.
2) You fix the damn TC lock/unlock problem that no one can fix thus far.
3) You give me $10,000.

Hey I just gotta say thanks guys. I was expecting this, but it's alright. I got a few PMs saying people would actually do it if they were closer to me. It just shows how strong this community really is. If your goal was to get me down it didn't work, if anything I feel better from the PMs. If I could make the trip I would, but I just don't have the time.
People don't rent out Marauders... at least no where near me.
So thank you. I don't need one until saturday in case someone changes their mind. I'll take good care of it.
Well keep passing off the harsh words and I'll just keep laughing.
BTW I loaned out my Marauder to someone for a week. I had no problems and was rewarded with a tank o' gas. As much as I love mine it's still just a car.
Later gang.

Sorry Dom. It's hard to resist and easy to jump on the one that makes themselves a target and we have a quit normal group/mob mentality. If it was one on one, it would be a different conversation I'm sure. Truth be told, I don't know you near well enough to be that nice. I'm sure you would do your best to take care of it. Good luck though!

I loaned a car to a buddy and his wife once, they needed it for a month, turned into almost 8, car was a POS when I got it back, needed a complete repaint, new console, new dash, drivers seat track, 4 tires + it had an additional 33K on it, they decided to go on vacation with their "new" car, and.... followed a gravel truck for about 100 miles. I won't even mention the damage that was done by their kids and the neighbor kids.
So yeah, if someone wants to borrow my car, up front deposit of what I feel is fair, when it's returned as it was when it left, you'll get your money back. So...... keep on laughing.

No harsh words Dom, just a reality check for you.
On this forum, you are always posting about what you do to/in your Marauder,
as well as all the mechanical maladies which somehow befall your Marauder.
What did you expect?
Today, I doubt that I'd loan my Marauder to my best friend for the weekend....
that's because I had a bad experience when I did so years ago with a previous car.

Wow I'm really sorry you guys had bad experiences like that. :shake:
I think I would be on the same page too if something like that happened to me.

Believe me I wouldn't. I only give WOT to my cars and anyone that gives me permission for theirs.

The funny thing is, I probably would let you borrow my marauder if you lived closer. If it was a nice weekend that I could use my bike so I had some mode of transportation, I probably would let you borrow my marauder. Too bad you don't live closer.

It is not just a car. I loaned mine out and got a new fender, bunper, windshield and others stuff out of it. I will never loan it out again. My daughter will never ask me again.

I am driving my broken car. BTW my R key doesn't always work. I just found out why my spelling sucks... at least recently.
