After rolling the dice for 3 months with cracked inner sidewalls on BOTH of my BFG KDWS fronts, I finally decided to get some new tires. I was going to go up a size, but I couldn't commit to anything and everyone who's seen the car in person said to keep it 235s in front.
So I did my research and pulled the trigger on a pair of the Dunlop Fierce Instinct ZR (http://www.fiercetires.com/tires/instinct-zr/index.html?dispSection=specs). I did some comparisons and found the UTQG, load index, and speed rating were the same as the BFGs and the Goodyear Eagle GT, but at the same time cheaper. Actually, the tread pattern was quite similar to the Eagle GT. The Fierce Instinct ZR has a rim protecting lip all the way around it, too.
They were $141/pc + installation. I probably could have done better, but I want to hit the track this weekend so I shelled out a little more than I needed to.
After installation, a test was performed on a closed course with a professional driver. :) The driver reached a speed of 120mph and noticed no errant shimmies, shakes, etc. There was a little more road noise, but I suspect that this was due to a greater contact patch with the road (the BFGs were so worn inside due to a previous alignment issue that they weren't fully connecting). The tires stick through turns better and the car just feels a lot better on the road.
Here are some pictures of the tires. I didn't feel like moving the car just for pictures, so you'll have to deal with terrible angles and whatnot...
