If I can get a lightning motor and trans. with the complete wiring harness, computer, everything to swap into my 05 GM. Besides the drive by wire and a different length drive shaft, what problems will I have with the swap. Thank You

Hood clearance and heater box. Use the search button as this has been brought up many times

I already have 31 spline axles and posi and the control arms and watts link are ordered. The hood clearance is not a problem. I have not seen a post with just the facts of a complete lightning swap. As I said before, if I get a complete engine and trans. with wiring harness, computer, a/c compressor and all other accessories. What else will I have to do for the swap besides the DBW and drive shaft.

Ok, here goes...
Lightning is a 2v, so the heater box and brake booster should clear ok.
Blower inlet will interfere with the windshield wiper cowl cover, but it can probably be fitted with some mods.
Hood clearance has already been mentioned.
Throttle linkage.
Heat exchanger.
Intercooler pump and tank.

Transmission is a big job. I have the only (to my knowledge) Marauder with a 4R100.
Some BFH mods to the transmission tunnel to clear the big mother.
Customized crossmember.
Custom driveshaft (length and front yoke).
Custom shift linkage.
There is a thread somewhere on here detailing my transmission swap.

If you plan to use the Lightning computer and wiring harness, then adapting that into the vehicle's PCM, since it controls so many other functions and everything is tied together. If you try to control the Lightning motor with the vehicle's PCM, I suppose the throttle body could be swapped but the trans will require a standalone controller, I would recommend the PCS controller.

Stronger front springs, there will be lots of additional weight.

You may want to check over at CV.net, IIRC, they've got a couple folks that have done this swap. Not aware of any Marauder guys that have.

Thank you very much for the info. I like to prepare ahead of time and purchase items over time. When I have everything, I start. Can't buy much all at once on a disabled vet's pension. Thank You again gentlemen.

Been done before by Sal from Power Surge Performance yeeeaaars ago, it was his DD if I remember correctly (Paul would know better). Good luck getting in touch him though ever since he closed up shop and moved to Fl. it's easier contacting the Pope.

That car belongs to the Greek God here on the site and is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

...my Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (ex-Sal's build), is a 2000---which is a much different front suspension and front cross member than the 2003< Panther chassis. The windshield wiper motor/linkage would be a problem, also.

I don't see why you couldn't use a 4R70 trans. That 4R100 is a huge monster--ever seen one?

You would also need an expert tuner, with a chassis dyno.

Much easier and less expensive to just bolt on a supercharger to a 4.6 DOHC (or SOHC).

Now, if it was just a race car...
