Well I was driving back from dinner with my girl and I had to do a u-turn which I floored it and when it went for the fisrt gear shift it slipped, then it caught some so I could cost with it but it would not catch overdrive. Then when I came to a stop it held low a long time and finally caught second. No reverse too.:help:

So I know I am FUBAR'd but let me know what can I do?

1. Is there anything a handy man can do it limp this thing 150 miles home?

2. what could be the cause of this? Any suggestions?

3. Is anyone who knows the Marauder transmissions going to Moultrie tomorrow?

If yes please call Dave at (770)639-4876.

Thanks!

Man, that stinks... maybe you can limp it home, it'll be slow going but fortunately it's not summertime so you probably won't overheat. Stub shaft or snap ring.

Moultrie is a long haul from MO's Garage but you ought to contact MartyO, he might be able to help with a haul to his shop in ATL.

Do you have AAA?

U think you are entitlled to one 100 mile haul per year.

If not, I may have a guy who will come get you/the car and bring it back my way.

Feel free to call me at (914) 582-6262 after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and I will try to do what I can.

At least Albany is pretty this time of year.

Well I had my transmission redone and this is the outcome:

1. The sun gear is a problem with the 4R70W & 75W transmissions. They (Ford) only welds the gear to the sun shell and the weld on mine gave up on the 6100 upshift. My transmission guy claimed there is no improved version to put in the car so he got a Sonnax one (i believe) which it now has.

2. Also bought the Tru-Cool Max LPD47391 40,000 GVW Transmission oil cooler on it now.

3. Trans Go Shift Kit intermediate shift enhancement since it will be used to pull my 24 ft travel trailer in the future which loaded will weigh in the 4200 lbs range (2847 empty).

4. Updated accumulators and springs, updated retainers which tend to spring off under high RPM shifting with the spiral locked one.

5. Alto clutches and steels, as well as Raybestos best bands (used in place of Alto due to trailer towing he claimed the Raybestos are most durable for heat the trailer will cause.

On the drive home I didn't have a bunch of time to have fun but what I need help with is:

When the transmission now upshifts and chirps the wheels the traction control light comes on and then cuts the power to the rear wheels as soon as the shift hits (showing the silly computer the wheels have broken loose) so I guess I need to turn the traction control off if I race it right?

Those 4.10 gears with a strong transmission will provide smiles for many years!

Thanks and I look forward to your replies back.

Dave

Thanks Marty,

I will take it easy when it rains. I drove my black 73 Cougar with a tire chirping C-6 for a couple years in the winter of Chicago so I know how to treat them!

I guess the traction control does take the throttle out then?

Yes. It limits it.
