Coming home tonight I went open throttle 1-2nd . Shortly after I noticed something clunked when I turned a corner. When I made a sharp turn into my driveway It made a big clunk. I turned off the car and It seems something has binded up. I can put the car in Drive or Reverse and I can feel it engage as usual but the car wont move. When I put it in neutral it will not move as well.
I am thinking about removing the drive shaft and seeing if the rear end will turn.
Any suggestions? :mad2:

If your transfluid is too low it could do that too. Might as well check it. Do a pan drop on it too if you haven't in a while. (before it too goes south)
With metal in the rear end - it may need a total rebuild. If the axles are worn you'd be silly not to do both axles, all bearings seals, perhaps new ring and pinion if they are chipped. Good luck.

I would have to be stupid not to get 4.10's in a situation like this, The rear axles were replaced about 20K ago when glockafella bought this car.
Hope to have it back up some time next week!

Here's some picture of the rear end. I was talking off from a complete stop making a left turn gave it a little gas and here's what you have.

Some one a while back on here posted part numbers for 31 spline axles with ford part numbers for our MM, all you would need is a 31 posi from a 05 up stang as there all 31 spline carriers.
could be worth looking into.
I think this will be my next up grade for my MM.

its alot easier to buy a couple bottle of brake clean and flush with a garden hose than to swap a complete axle. just sayin...

Agree with Got 1.
Once the centre chunk is out, cleaning the differential housing is easy and the axle tubes are just that...empty tubes. No nooks or crannies for anything to hide in.

smoked a unit in a jeep and cleaned in a parts washer and still had fine metal coming out of the pores of the metal and went out again so I replaced the whole housing
that is why I would get a whole housing and install a 4.10
@ a u-pull style yard they are around $100

I think I have some left-overs for you: 4:30s, 3:55s. OEM LSD, 28-spline axles. When you decide, send me a pm. Happy Bird day.

Took it to the shop, rear end is being rebuilt. Cost exactly one arm and one leg...
Hopefully will pick it up tomorrow. 4.10's FTW! :banana2:

The Caddy Stomper is back in action,
After a rear end rebuild and a tranny rebuild.
Both were seriously messed up.
I love the way the 4.10's make it get up and GOooo
