i had the MM on the back burner for a lilttle while becasue of a recent Fox body purchase. so it was sitting for a couple weeks at a time in my driveway becoming a weekend warrior. i havnt really been getting on it too bad, but yesterday afternoon i was beatin the crap out of her. i heard a clicking noise at around 4,000RPM when i had the window down next to a gaurdrail. It dosnt make a noise when i take off from a dead stop only around 4,000 to 5,000 RPM's. Could this be a U joint issue? i also had a Tune put on from Bama chips out of American Muscle. could this be a pinging click? It was a Marauder specific tune, and ive had the tune on it for about 6 months now and havnt noticed it before. U joint first? i believe there original.

A single click at RPM? Or a series of clicking or clapping? The latter would be ping. Maybe you have a tank of bad gas?

The simple test for a U joint is to hold your foot on the brake and put the car in gear, hear for a click when it drops into gear.
I doubt you would hear a U-joint over the engine at that RPM so Im thinking its a ping.

If the u-joints are bad there usually won't be any noise under load. You can test the u-joints by getting under your MM and trying to move the driveshaft side to side & up and down.

Mine make a weird noise too, thinking its the tranny makes a series of broom on sidewalk noises, medium acceleration at 50kh/r exact noise and exact speed everytime, need my window down to hear it too. Know what that could be, for the clicking I would just take the driveshaft off and check the u joints by hand, if their good may be rear parking brake shoes or axle bearings
