I need help please! I was driving last night when I noticed that the car was idling rough. I was on my way home and about a mile and a half the check engine light came on. I drove it very carefully after that when about a quarter of a mile the check engine light started blinking. From that moment on I gingerly drove it to my house and before I parked it the light stopped blinking. When I check the code with my code reader it came up p0201 injector ckt open cylinder one. What does this exactly mean and how do I fix. Please, please, please someone help me I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you for any and all help.

Btw i did notice a peculiar smell when I got out of the car.
What you smell is probably unburned fuel.
Some possible causes from P0201 is the #1 injector (passenger side cylinder closest to the front of the car) the wiring to the injector or the PCM (warrantied to 80K miles).
Other causes could be corroded injector connector pins, or connectors on the PCM.
Did you pressure wash the engine recently? How many miles on the car? Were you doing other work in the engine bay that may have disturbed the wiring or components?
For PCM warranty the dealer has to do the work. If they find something else then you are responsible for the charges.
If you don't usually do your own repairs then the shop option is best. Many auto repair shops don't have the electronic testers to check OBDII cars such as ours, so ask before you choose that route.

Ok the car has 115,000 miles on it. I havent washed the engine or did any work on it recently. I had to work yesterday so I didnt have time to look at it. Now that I do I started it up and once all the fuel was burned out(white smoke was billowing from the tailpipes with a strong oder of gas) it seemed to run smoothly again. I will say that when the problem started I was near empty if that makes a difference. Im going to go through and double check the wiring but so far everything seems ok.
Seems like you have some sort of foreign fluid (water?) in the fuel tank and the 02 sensors are defining it's combustion as a lean condition.
I would look into having the tank flushed and gushed.
There are prolly other ways or additives to remedy the contamination.
Anyway sound like the hardware is OK.
Injector circuit open means just that, there is a open in the circuit between the power supply, the injector and the injector ground (the computer). That means the computer isn't seeing B+ between the times it is trying to fire the injector. The only solution is to trace the wire and check the connections along the way. The fact that it isn't doing it any more will make it that much harder, so you should start with the wiggle test and see if that makes the problem come back then proceed to look for corroded terminals or ones that are backing out of their connector.

It was running fine the last few days and then all of a sudden the symptoms reappered and the check engine code p0301 cylinder 1 misfire. Now Im starting to worry.

This is quick and easy. Pull off the fuel injector connector on the #1 cylinder, the injector closest to you on the passenger side if you're standing in front of the car looking at the engine. Take a toothbrush and gently brush out the connector on the fuel injector and the plug. Put just a touch of dielectric grease on the injector pins. You can get a little $1 packet of it at any car parts counter. Snap the connector in and see how she does.

ok will I disconnected the wire to the injector, cleaned it and put a little dielectric grease on it. connected it back up and started the car. I noticed that when i wiggled the wire the symptoms would return. i also noticed a squeal coming from the engine.

Sounds like you have a bad injector wire/connector. As for the squeal, where does the sound originate? That may be coincidental.

Hard to tell. Im thinking from the engine side with the connector problem. They pprobably dont sell connectors at autozone so im guessing have to get one at a junk yard. the sound just started when I was fiddling with the wires. I never heard it before. btw thanks to everyone helping me with this.

Junk yard or even here (I think they may have it, haven't checked): http://www.rjminjectiontech.com/?p=10

I found out what the leak is. It seems i punctured a vacuum hose and thats what caused the squeal. Have to laugh about that but i did double check the connector and if I dont mess with it the car runs fine . When I mess with it then it idles rough.

here (I think they may have it, haven't checked): http://www.rjminjectiontech.com/?p=10Yes, they do have the injector connectors.
It may also be a faulty injector, but changing the connector is easier and cheaper... ;)
