I dont know if you knew this but you can get a new single disc shipped with your stall preference for less than $200 more. I bought a tripple disc 3500 stall for $475 shipped, which is a $900 converter without shipping. Maybe this helps you.

And even so, given that this converter is in great shape and doesn't have many miles or abuse on it, even with the price info, I'd still say it is competitive. One just sold here not long ago with more miles on it, for more money.
