I have a 2007 Lincoln Town Car which is likely fitted with the same ventilated rear brakes as a Marauder. The rear rotor is 1 5/8" wide, but the pad is only 1 3/8" wide. There is therefore 1/4" of unswept rotor at the outside of the rotor. The pad ceramic braking surface measures 3 1/2" long by 1 3/8" wide, but should be (in my opinion) 3 1/2" by 1 5/8".

Is the Marauder set up with pads that are too narrow as well? Apparently this is the way Lincolns have been set up since 1992 model at least. I am checking to see if all Panthers are set up this way.

I have attached pictures to show the 1/4" unswept ring at the outside of the rotor. All the cars that I have ever seen and worked on had pads that swept the entire rotor, but this is my first Panther with all disc brakes.

Yes my Maruader is the same way and it has Ford pads on it currently. The set up does not go all the way back to 92 even though they look similar there have been a couple of brake set ups between 92 and 03 when the current and last set up was introduced. On my 92CV the pad extends all the way to the edge of the rotor.

To my recollection, I have never seen a standard brake pad that does sweep the entire width of the rotor, I may be wrong, but there always seems to be a ring around the outer diameter of the rotor, untouched by the pads.

Mine are the same way, just how Ford did it.

It's a Panther trait.

There are lots of vehicles out there where the pad goes all the way to the edge of the rotor, the 92-95 Panthers for example. There are also lots of older Japanese crap that the pad is larger than the rotor and worn pads have a lip on the top edge.

Too bad I cannot get a wider pad. Thank you all for your input.
