the motor went out in my Marauder so i 'm swapping in a 99 Cobra mustang motor. The cobra motor has a 8 bolt flywheel and my Marauder has a 6 bolt. What car came with a 8 bolt automatic flywheel? i had a 8 bolt flywheel from behind a 5.4 truck and the torque converter bolt holes were not the same? any help would be appreciated.

There is a special flywheel, or you can drill existing to fit.
Call Dennis Reinhart if you want one that will just install

first thing when you go to buy, you need a flex plate not a flywheel. That being said search "8 bolt flex plate" here on the site, the ford part number has been posted before. Good luck.

Thanks guys.
Motor had 325,000.0 miles, it belonged to a traveling salesman. i bought it broke its in really nice shape and i already had the cobra motor. what it looks like is the pass side cam gear bolt came loose and the gear walked out snapping off some of the guide material. it looks like it ran like this untill it wore the aluminum down so thin it snaped off the top portion above the hydraulic thingey. then the chain jumped time. so the motor is fixable! but with 325K on it?
The difference is "cast" crank vs. "forged" crank,
6 bolt cast, 8 bolt forged.

Here's the ford motorsports # M-6375-H46.
Took me next to no time to find it as I have one sitting in the basement waiting for the Aluminator swap.

99 f250 with the 5.4 should work

5.4 from F250 did not work already tried that. had the motor in and was bolting the tranny up when i noticed the torque converter studs were not in the same location. :(

it was actually a 1999 E250 but had a 5.4 and R4100 tranny. i was thinking a F150 with the light duty tranny might work if all trucks came with 8 bolt cranks? but im unsure of that.

And I would NEVER drill out a flex plate. I would buy the correct one.

Ford used to sell this but it has been discontined it, along with the upper radiator hose on our car.

Can't you get a torque convertor that will line right up to the 8 bolt flexplate too? Another option I believe!

A while back, I picked up one at a yard in Jacksonville for $35 out of a 4.6 2000 Mustang GT. Try www.car-part.com to find one for your project.

It is not, it is for a 11.5" bolt patern a stock Marauder is 10.5" Ford did make one that did fit but has been discontinued.

The PI converter has both a 10.5 and a 11.5 bolt paten. I am trying, to get a company to make a 8 bolt with the stock bolt patern, bottom line is if you are spending the money for a high RWHP engine you are most like likely going to go with a converter as well.

I already have a Circle D triple disc and a build trans from BC, so the question is, which flexplate can I use?

That Ford number comes up as 10.5" and 11.25" on different Ford part sites??? WTF??? I still like my original opinion in post #16 above, which, albeit more expensive, is probably the best option at this point.

Well that is correct, they did make a flex plate that would fit both paterns it just is no longer made so this was a good find.

So that number is unreliable unless you have the bolt hole measurements from whomever may even have one... I hope you were joking about getting one Spectra... :( Personally, I've never read about a stock 6 bolt crank going much less a pro balanced one.

m6375h46 is what I used when I put my aluminator in. I got mine from blue oval chips. Orginally ordered from woodys but they would not honor there advertised price so I cancelled my order.

No joke, I ordered it, $200 to my door. I'll check with Darin @ BC and see if my convertor will bolt up, worst case, order a new convertor.

The Ford Racing one has the 10.5" bolt pattern, it also has pilot holes that match the 11.25" bolt pattern. All you would have to do is enlarge the holes to make a 11.25" convertor fit. They are still available from Ford, they just don't list it in the catalog anymore, when I ordered mine in Oct my parts guy was on the phone with the Ford Racing tech and he said they had +200 in stock.

Be aware that they are not all the same "height" as the stock Marauder one. MM stock flexplate is on the right. Straightedge is flat on top of the MM one (yes the floor is flat).
