Got a call from my body shop today and my car is done with all body work and painting. They wanted to know where I wanted them to take it for front end alignment. In two days it will have been five months since my accident. Could I really only be days away from having my Marauder back? Surely Satan is enjoying some down-hill skiing right about now, no?

Fourth, buddy!

I thought all of SLC had frozen over, it's been so long since we've heard from you!

I'm glad you FINALLY  have some good news for us, but it's a shame you're getting your car back just in time for winter...

I hope the assbite that hit you has been making your car payments these last 5 months...or that you at least get a whopping settlement from your (his) insurance company to make up for it...

Fourth, that explains why Junehhan's car took so long to arrive, they were probably pirating all sorts of parts off the newer car in order to complete yours!

Seriously, it's about time. It's gonna be pretty exciting to hear that rear suspension clunk... er, I mean feel that 300 hp monster once again... ;) Congrats on the good news...

Thanks, guys. I'll be sure to post a follow up once I have my car. Hopefully everything will turn out ok with it. I've been in to the body shop just about every week checking up on their work, so I don't expect any troubles.

 You know, seriously, after the hit the car took I wouldn't be surprised if that body mount noise is gone now. heh. If not, well, I'll return to fighting that battle later. For now I'll just be happy to have Mr. Black and Squeeky back on the road. :D

just curious-what in the world would hold a repair up for 5 months? Was getting parts a problem? Good Grief- I think I could smelt you new parts in my garage quicker than that, and I don't know how to "SMELT!" I'm very sorry to hear that you were without the black BEAST for so long! If it snows and I don't get to drive mine for 2 or 3 days, I have withdrawl pains and get the "BLAHS" :alone: :bigcry: I hope she is repaired to perfection and that you NEVER have to be without ever again!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you and yours! Mike:beer:

Yes, it was a parts problem at Ford. You can read the gory details in this (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5815&highlight=fourth+horseman) thread.

The short version is that I blew 3.5 months waiting for parts. In any event, Steve Babcock at Ford tracked down the problem on their side and got it resolved.

Whew, what a relief!!! I 1st thought, from the title of this thread, that Mercury had started an ad campaign for the Marauder!

Welcome back 4th, and congrats. Did you get a full frame replacement?

RedMM – Yes, I have photos after the accident. I'll put them up with the after-repair pics as well on a page and post the link here as soon as I get my car back.

Sarge – Fortunately, the damage never got to the frame. It destroyed both passenger doors, the B pillar from about mid-window down, clobbered the front passenger side fender pretty good and also crushed the passenger side of the firewall a bit. They had to cut out part of the floor pan, the rocker-panel area, and weld in a new piece. They also had to cut out part of the firewall and replace it as well. This required removing the entire dash, so it was a fair amount of work. Obviously the two doors and the front fender were relatively easy replacements. Bolt-ons, so to speak. The B-pillar was also cut out and a replacement welded back in place.

So it was a lot of work, but fortunately no damage was done to the main structure of the car. The frame didn't get touched and did not require any straightening. There was a lot of damage, but it was pretty much all sheet metal.

Before/after pics will be forthcoming. Thanks again for the support, everyone!

The B-pillar was also cut out and a replacement welded back in place.

This may affect your structural integraty in a roleover, and may prevent the car from ever being able to hold and aliengment again. I hope not, but it's something to keep an eye out for.
