Hey, I think I found a scanner, the Actron CP9580. Just wondering if anyone has one or what do you think, it's around 170.00 or so.:burnout:

The scanner I got years ago was less than $100.00, it will read and clear codes.

I was looking at a lot of scanners, and your right some are like 30 bucks, but this has real time graphics, reads and clears ABS and impact codes, and has a thing called code connect witch is vehicle specific top fixes etc..I don't know, I'll give it a try. BTW right now I'm working on a Toyota 4runner. The MM is still burnin my tires up..:D
Never used that one before but it looks like a good price for the features. Pretty close to a pro grade tool for a lot less.

I'll see and let you know, lately been working on allot of my cars and need something more accurate and to the point without buying the Snap On 1700.00 one. This thing also has USB upgradeable info and USB software to print info but I've been hearing you need a 64bit operating system?

ive used the snap on solus, maybe im missing the point or didnt use it to its full potential but it did nothing more for me then any of the cheaper unit ive used. wasnt any more accurate in the description for the problem either. really once you get the code, google is your best friend.

I know what you mean, but if your a shop worker you need those pricey units for the simple reason the codes are different with ferrari, Ben's etc.:cool4:

Snap On just released the Microscan series in their Bluepoint line. For $400 it offers a lot of the function of their more expensive units.
The other thing to consider is some of the lap top based systems. At work we use the stuff from www.AutoEnginuity.com. For $250 it covers all the basics but you can purchase vehicle specific upgrades that give you full capability. For example air suspension and key programing for Fords.

If all you are doing is reading codes then it isn't any better but the access to live data is a must for no-code driveablity and multiple code diagnosis. It also gives you access to things like individual miss-fire counts. You also have the ablity to log data. I do agree that the price is steep and certainly isn't practical for a DIY.

+1, good input, I'm going further than just reading generic codes I like data logging, and to the point specific vehicle , IE, make model engine etc...

You might want to consider one of the Autoenginuity bundles and add on your other vehicle. Then you can do just about any thing the factory scan tool can for those vehicles and the generic stuff for all. The current version includes a performance meter function as well.

Great input, but allot of those cost , I mean, every time you contact the man it cost you money,,,,sometimes 14.00 or 35.00 per call and it sometimes is not the problem "exact" witch one would expect, since no problem is the same in a lot of cases....But still good input.."better than the dealer cost".;)

Thinking about getting one of these: http://www.obdscan.net/
Can get enhanced codes as well.

lt looks good to. Does it have CAN ability? Controller- area network. Vehicle specific serial bus communication.

That looks pretty reasonable for it's features. The update to enhanced mfg specific stuff is pretty reasonably priced as well. If you get it be sure to report back how it works.

It does have CAN capability. Interface unit appears to be universal with the basic software, but then you can get the Enhanced software for different mfg's.

Also, I don't think the Marauder uses the CAN bus. They recommended the Ford Enhanced Software for cars without CAN bus.
