I'm not Mormon/LDS, but I've been trying move out there for the last two years and it looks like it's finally going to happen at the end of January 2011! I've been offered a job in Provo at the web hosting provider Blue Host Inc. It may not be the most exciting job, but they pay well with good benefits and I figure this is a great "foot in the door" for me.

I have a good friend who lives in Sandy and I've been to visit him a few times so the area isn't completely foreign to me, but it's largely unfamiliar. I was mainly curious about where some good places for a 20-something perpetually single guy to live would be. My friend's family has graciously allowed me to stay with them as long as I need to, but I'd honestly rather keep my stay less than two weeks so I'd like to start the search for housing ASAP.

Also, who are some good mechanics in the area? I figure this move will be putting a damper on my modding projects, but when I'm financially secure enough to start them again, what are some good shops that know our cars? Again, along the lines of our cars, how well do they put up with the winter weather out there? I'm planning on getting a 4x4 vehicle of some sort anyway because I plan on hunting elk, but just how big of a deal is it to have 4x4 during the winter months?

Thanks in advance for any replies. I realize there are probably very few of you!

There are a few of us but only a few. Im up in the Ogden area. It isnt mandatory that you own a 4X4 but it does make it easier at times. It will at least keep some of the salt off your Marauder if nothing else.

Im not sure if there are a lot of good mechanics around here or not as most of us do our own wrenching. Good luck with your move and I hope you like the area.

Im going back to St. George in a few months, folks getting older and since they wont move to Texas I think its only right I move back. Only hold back is work or I would leave tonight. I am not LDS either if anyone is keeping score.

Heh, you guys sound all right. Maybe after I get settled in out there, we could meet up for a couple of couple of cold ones. After the drive out, I'll likely need one ! I'll be sure to keep you all updated on the moving situation in the meantime.
