18" vs. 14" Magnaflows

I see a lot of guys are running the 18" Magnaflows but is anyone using the shorter 14" version?
I assume they would just be louder?
Reason I ask is that my local store stocks the 14's. Would save me from ordering them.

Ya, it's pretty much just a volume thing, I have 18" magnaflows in the Marauder, and 14" one's in my Mach 1. Very similar sound, just that the Mustang is louder.

i went from 14" to 18" and i liked the sound better, more enjoyable and it took out the drone it had with the 14"s at a certain rpm.

I have the 14" Magnaflows - no issues. Was very quiet for the first couple of rides until I hit triple digits - then the packing appeared to have "left the building"! No drone but pretty loud at WOT.

martyo has a blu with 14 inch magnaflows if he hasn't changed them. I liked the soune, quiet when light throttle, growl when medium to heavy. :) The 2004 is still stock, I like it too.

yeah do the 14 inch ,18 s are too quiet especially if you have stock mufflers now . You want to notice a differance when you switch em ..... Ask me how i know.

A mixed bag, but it looks like more votes for the 14's.
I'll report back on how I make out with them.
Hopefully get them on in the next week or so.

Opinions vary and I bet people with long tubes and high flow cats (Kooks or Stainless Steel Works) will have a totally different opinion..... resonator deletes are another factor. Once installing Kooks LT’s and x-pipe I can tell you the sound/volume changed dramatically for the good. After about two years with the LT’s I can say I will likely change the mufflers to something a little different (18’s) in the next 6 months or so.

This being said, the next install will be a power adder so the jury is still out. Will the whine drown out the exhaust?
