Marauder decals

I have a potentially-affordable source for getting decals made, and figured I would see if anyone here is interested in getting decals for the Marauder. I was thinking something like this would work as a source:

I do not know anything about cost yet, so please don't badger me. I'm simply gauging interest at this point.

I like the one you put up, but also like the round "Mercury Man". This is commonly called the Mercury Godshead. I promise I won't badger you, but are they ready yet?

are they ready yet? No, none have been made. I wanted to see what the interest was before I committed to having this guy do anything first.


If anyone has input on colors, please post it here. So far I'm leaning towards chrome or red.

For the record, these wouldn't be like bumper stickers. These would be the vinyl decals. In that picture I posted, the black areas would be nonexistent. Only the gray areas (i.e. the lettering and/or the God's head) would be on the car.

Depending on how many people want decals, I'm sure we can add more color options. But it might be cost-prohibitive to do ONE decal in ONE color. I'm waiting for an estimate on certain colors. From what I understand, chrome would be a little more costly than other colors.

The majority seems to prefer the Mercury Man with "Marauder" underneath it option so that is what I will ask the guy to make as a prototype unless the vote swings in another direction anytime soon.

I will post pictures whenever I get my hands on it. I am hoping to be able to have these made and shipped for somewhere in the neighborhood of $8 or $9. Anything more than that, I don't know if it'd be worth it.

Either way, I will post an update whenever I have one.

So anyway, the guy who is doing these, does them as a hobby only - not a full-time job. I'm trying to keep the lines of communication open without pestering him too badly right now, but it's a busy time of year and life gets in the way.

That being said, the image I sent him was not high-res enough for him to work with. I've got PM's in to BigDogJim and Ladyhawke to see what they can provide for us.

I am hoping to get this going, if for no other reason than I would like a set for my own car. Offering them to everyone here at a good price would just be a side benefit.

And for the record, this isn't going to be a money maker for me. I plan to sell these at as close to actual cost as possible, once the decal guy names his price and I figure shipping costs and stuff out. Oh, and I guess I need to set up a PayPal account or something.

I've sent the guy a higher-resolution picture of the Mercury Man so he can get started. BigDogJim and I have PM'd back and forth a few times about this.

Everything is in the planning stages right now. I received 3 PM's after I posted this (which I thought was a joke)...

So the black background will be gone only god's head & marauder on car, I was thinking about inside center of back window, will that work or will the letters be backwards ? White or gray (SB) would wok for me.

Yes - the black background would be omitted, leaving only the "gray" portions of that image.

Just an update, I haven't heard ANYTHING from that guy. He seems to have dropped off the face of the planet.

I am going to give him another week and then I will be exploring other options to get these done.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to everyone. The guy who I thought would be doing them seems more interested in making Honda decals than Mercury decals, and hasn't responded to the few PMs I've sent him.

So in passing I mentioned it to my best friend, who works at a T-shirt screenprinting shop. Apparently they're getting into the vinyl decal game themselves, and based on what he's said, the pricing is affordable; cheaper even than the first guy.

The only drawback is that they're less flexible on colors. Chrome does not appear to be an option (which some people had expressed interest in). Beyond that, we can have pretty much any color. Of course, with more colors = more cost.

Out of black, white, or red, which would most interest you? I am thinking of having a run of 25 made in ONE color to start out with, just to keep my costs down...
