The weather has been in the 20's or so for the past 2 weeks and the Bluerauder has been accumulating lots of road dirt and grime on the daily work commute. No opportunity to clean it up at all. ;)

Well yesterday, Virginia got its first snowstorm and the MM has been out in the snow, slush and treated roads. It looks like crap. Those who know my car would be embarrassed if they saw it. They might even vote to have me thrown off the MM.Net boards for MM-Abuse.

Maybe its time to start looking seriously for another daily driver. I kinda like the Taurus SHO ..... but I tend to lean toward a Ford Fusion like Blackened300a has (the mono-color/Sport version without the chrome grill). The wife's car is paid off in January, so ..................... :D

I really like the Fusion Sport, would get that before the SHO. Read up on a lot of weird stuff going on with it on the Taurus forum.

Get a DD....That's why I bought my '99 Ranger back in August.
No way was I driving my Marauder through another winter after last year's mess!
Plus the Ranger hauls car parts, mulch, landscaping stones, furniture, etc. MUCH better than the Marauder.
The Marauder does haul ass MUCH better.

I didn't like Fusions because all of them had that stupid HUGE CHROME grille that Ford stylists think looks good.

Requirements? Haven't really given it that much thought yet. Its gotta get me to work and back 5 days per week in style and comfort. ;)

Size .... nothing smaller than mid-size. Fusion is about as small as I'd go.

Price ... the Taurus SHO is about $42-45K depending on options. The Fusion Sport comes in at $29-33K also depends on options. So a good range would be $29-45K.

I really don't see myself in a Ranger pick-up .... maybe an F-150. ;)

Probably a great car, but wouldn't you feel just as bad about using a new Taurus SHO as a "winter beater"? At $40K plus, I'd want to pamper it in the garage when it snows, even if it does have AWD. ;)

The Ford Escape is a candidate as is the new "Explorer", both in your stated price range. Advantage is a utility vehicle in your stable instead of just another car.
