If you're having excessive paint issues why not just get your stock hood repainted? lol

i was told it was a problem that happened at the factory and would cost 500 buck to fix where as a new hood is about 170

you need to find an honest paint shop, that sounds a bit odd

If you can get a new hood, and it's painted to match your car, for a total of 170 bucks, I say go for it.

You're not going to get a new hood and have it come painted for $170. You can try and find a used hood. Find several body shops in your area and get quotes. Take your vehicle there so they can actually see it and get something in writing.

Uhhh, you get what you pay for. Your going to replace the stock factory hood with a aftermarket knock off with questionable paint.... = fail.

I say look for a used solid colored one or find a Painter at the right price in your area.

What exactly is the problem with the paint? And if it's just a problem with the paint why replace the hood when you can just have it repaired/repainted?

im not exactley sure some shops say its stress cracks but they are only on the hood and roof of the car...they are white and they spider in all directions...it actually looks like someone painted over it before i bought it and then 4 months later they started to show and spread....

My 04 SB and my wife's GM SB have paint peeling off the roof and bubble spots that are rusting.

I found a painter that will do the entire roof, sanding down to bare metal, primer, paint and clear coat for $400.00. He works at a body shop and this is off the clock work.

He does good work at the body shop, not sure about the home paint jobs, but I'm going to try him out in February after all the holiday bills are paid. I'll post pictures before and after when it's done.
