I am looking for a place in or near St. Louis to get my car tuned. I want someone who really knows what is going on and can give me a safe tune that wont eat anymore transmissions.

Currently I am running a DR sct tune. I would like to have the A/F corrected for the long tube headers.

Xcal3? Can you datalog the car? Hard to believe a tune would do anything to a tranny. Tunes are started with base value files that are tried and true and the mods anyone would make would only help in the longevity of a tranny. Anyway, my real point being that if you can datalog (Which is really easy if you have a tuner and a laptop) you can get a custom tune from any pro. You can log what the tranny is commanded to do and what it's actually doing.

I have an xcal 2. I believe it can do data logging.

Cant recomend anyone in STL! Bobby Steigeimeier in St Charles been there done that he is strong on manual Cobras but lacking on large auto's Buckwheat had pure performance in St Peters do his he says its ok but thats all but considering no blower they maybe OK for you. Like Rx stated hard to beleive DR tune or anyone that knows are cars tune is causing trans failure. You can try The Mustang guy in S.city but I dont know him. Contact Ballz-80 he hade them tune his trilogy after install?? STL lacks any really good tuners for our cars not hardly any MM's around are area so no one I know has much exp on them. When my sb gets built after the 1st of year its going up to Chi-town and we bill tuned up there.

If you are only looking for tune to better appreciate the LT's Pure Performance would probably be fine.

Thanks for the suggestions, I think the trans failure had to do with increased line pressure and the Jmod. I am going to put the accumulator springs back in.

The planetary gears were destroyed.

Ouch! Sounds like it was on the edge and just couldn't handle it. Something was wronf mechanically to begin with. Mine has 118k on it, JMod and increased line pressure. I beat the living piss outa it too. You can log with the xcal2, which, I would recommend. DR, or any sct tuner/dealer, can give you a config file to log certain parameters. Livelink is free on the sctflash.com site.

Dont know much about them! But how long did it last? I know a Ford Trans guy Who might be looking for side work. He is a 20yr Ford Tranny guy its all he does.. If it hasnt been that long have you tried to talk with the guys that did it (stupid qust Iam sure you have)

My SB has his tune in it it is at 108,xxx & still feels strong? But each car is slightly diff?? I dont even have a J-Mod in it yet & I have been running it hard lately.

I just had it rebuilt a few weeks ago after it blew up. It has been running well ever since. I am afraid to go open throttle because I don't like it shifting so hard. I am going to get the accumulator springs put back in to soften it up.

You did say you had Reinharts' tune. With that tune the line pressure is slightly increased. You also said you had a j mod. That also increases line pressure as you know. If it is shifting to hard keep the j mod but decrease the line pressure until your more comfortable. Use your sct x cal 2. Give Dennis a call.

Actually a bad trans tune can shorten a transmission life Quite abit, I doubt it was Dennis tune, he is too conservative on customers trans tunes. If you ever take a ride on his car you will notice what a really hard shift is like. Like they said before, just adjust the line press on the tuner. The jmod actually prolongs the trans life.

Oh I forgot.
Drive it like you stole it.

I should make it clear. The trans tune that was on it when it blew up was from a local place in st. louis. I told the guy to increase the pressure and I think that had something to do with it.

Currently I have a DR tune with stock pressures and I want to put the springs back it because I want to preserve my trans and drive-train as much as possible since it is brand new (had the rear end rebuilt too).

Also with stock pressures and the j-mod it still barks the tires hard on these cold streets.

Makes sense. Who tuned in STL? My 300A shifts hard at WOT it is a BC Trans and I have never had a problem with it. But it was built for that. Alot of times the hard shifts are better then sluggish shifts. as long as not flat slamming gear to gear.

You will be fine if you leave the springs out.

Install a cooler and monitor trans temps if you are worried.
Did you replace the cooler? If not you have metal in the system.

Just lower line pressure via tune. Change fluid more often...

Good luck.
