I plan to get Collector plates for the Marauder in 2011 (and beyond), and the BMV needs proof that the car is more than a beat up old vomit comet. Plus, I wanted to know my "true" build number. Before, I was under the assumption I was #504 - now I know for sure that it's #420 (ugh, cue the marijuana jokes)

You get them from your states DMV. What qualifies as a "collector" vehicle varies by state. In mine the vehicle has to be 25 years old or older and carries some big restrictions on driving the car such as only to cars shows or club meets and very limited other pleasure driving. But they are lifetime. Again that is my state and yours will be different. Your state should have some info on it's DMV web site, if they offer such a thing.
20 years here in Maryland for "historic" plates
Looks like you guys will be waiting a long time!

And how does one get to purchase one of these? PLEASE do tell.:) I'll save you the misery of sifting through that thread. Go here: http://www.fordshowparts.com/store_contents.cfm?cart_id=103 723326701111141008310472585201 02612&store_id=1&dept_id=1137&product_id=6959
Easy peasy.
Not familiar with collector plates - where do you get them? As was previously stated, your state DMV sets criteria. In Ohio, generally the cars have to be 25 or older. However, in cases where one can prove that the car is collectible and/or in limited production, they will approve collector plates. Marauders do qualify.

General Information
In an effort to ensure that all vehicles registered as collector vehicles are truly collectible, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles references the National Automobile Dealers Association and The Complete Book of Collectible Cars 1930-1990 (Consumer Guide) to determine vehicles that are true collector vehicles. Although we recognize that a vehicle may be unique because of time, energy and investment expended by the owner, these publications are used in determining eligibility for collector’s license plates. Due to a administrative ruling, vehicle models not listed in the above publications may be considered collector vehicles if the applicant obtains documentation from the manufacturer that the vehicle was in limited production, is in demand as a collectible vehicle at the time of application or a sizable investment can be proven.

Santa got me one, too. He also got my friend one for his 2003 Mach I.
My sister-in-law will frame it with pictures of the car and some other MM goodies.
I'll get pictures when it is done, some of my brother-in-law's 1996 Cobra certificate framed.
