Dennis;

There is interference between the curved bracket on top of the alternator and my aftermarket hood liner which is much thicker than stock..

I thought about reforming the bracket to make it flatter. Would a cut and reweld be better?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Pat you can use a mallet and bend it down and it will clear, would you also please post pictures of the install, they some how disappeared, the baracket hits because of the SC mount raising the Alt up.

I used one of these.... http://www.classglassperformance.com/merc%20cr%20vic.html it solved all my hood clearance issues.

Good looking hood, but just flattening the bracket is a bit cheaper. I will post a picture tomorrow.

Thanks Dennis. It's dark out now, I'll post pictures tomorrow.

I'll rig up a jig and hammer down the arch, off the car, don't want the bolt holes to spread out or cause the Alternator any stress.

Well, that bracket is a rather thick piece of metal. I couldn't keep the bolt holes from spreading when hammering the arch down, on my jig. So I reformed it back to it's original shape (more or less) and I'll just leave it be. Prolly a torch to soften the bracket would be another option.

I'm reluctant to hammer the bracket while attached to the alternator, don't want to screw it up, they are expensive.
