I'm excited to see a MV so close to home (6hrs), but my schedule is so screwed up right now that I can't commit to anything. At best, I'd only be able to attend a day or two. I will stay tuned, nonetheless.

Congrats to all who planned this event.

6 Hour Drive... Not too bad!

I've mapped drives that said 12 hours and done it in less then 10. Always subtract at least an hour and a half from the google and mapquest times. They base it on the speed limits of the route.

When we open registration, that will confirm our numbers. This is to get a rough idea of the number of members interested. Its still important to vote so we can work on the registration costs to keep it affordable.

I've attended all MV's since 4. My first MV was 14+ hrs St. Louis to Florida All subsequent events have been 7 to 12 hrs, and i haven't regreted a minute of them. Do all the drive traveling you can while you can.

Don't be one of those saying, I wish i had.

I agree. My marauder has had a few "hot suppers" in the past years of my ownership and long distance traveling makes me nervous. She has 120k on her and HOPE she makes it at least another 50k, or at least run until I trade her in! haha

You will be surrounded by people who know these cars inside and out. I shot a sparkplug on my way to MV7, fixed it, drag raced out in Indy and drove it home. You'll be fine. Plus theres a Ford dealer closeby to the hotel. (we thought of that too)

hahaha EXCELLENT! I think she will make the trip and enjoy being around her brothers and sisters, but I think she will have to sit on the sidelines for the drag racing! Still need her to be able to drive me back home...

nothing.....really looks BLACK IN THE EVENING anyway..good choice ther Rex--

I will be not be attending. Its to close to the SSHS race in Atlanta.

Oh ...Man!! It is isn't it!!! Dang!! hummmmmmm

Thanks Paul and to everyone who's getting this together. Sorry to say I won't be able to make due to a conflict in schedule. I hope all of you have a blast. Last years was AWESOME! I hate to miss this one!

Whats this crap!! You come on up now ya hear!! stop by and head up with us Carolina guys/girls...pick up CBT and make a run of it---

.
I'm down as a forsure|maybe.
.

You better--I own you a few --how else can I get them to you otherwise????

At least a couple of the Carolina guys are gonna be there; I'll even buy the first round.

Thats for sure--more than few is my guess --we at 4+ now----and will be waiting for that first round---

Looks like about a 10 hour drive from Greenville, but we'll prolly make a week of it and stop at a couple other places en-route to or from.
---

We may do the same depending on what kinda of carrovan we get set up with folks-

With your latest installation, I think you could knock at least 3 hours off that time. ;)

Rex may think so but he will have others to contend with.......

Yeah, but momma will be along, and my shoulder will only take so much pounding... ;)

......now Ms M is more likely to indicate, .."punch it--don't let that so and so do that....show'um who's boss"....

Nah, when it comes to that, Dennis, I'm ambidextrous. :D

always did want to know how to s p e l l that word--thanks----

Good morning!! Funny you should ask about the hotel for MV IX. I, along with 3 other planning committee members are heading out to Hershey this morning to put the finishing touches on the hotel contract. (We all stay in one hotel) We hope to put up the official hotel thread very soon so stay tuned!! BTW it's going to be a really nice hotel. You'll love it!

The committee normally gets a outstanding deal on a top notch hotel, not your run of the mill place, but at the run of the mill place price. Trust me, you'll be happy. Of course you can stay where you like, but its much better to be with the group.

Attention Boys & Girls.....FRDFRK, Hammerdown, Mr. Man and I completed the MV IX Hotel negotiations out in Hershey/Harrisburg yesterday! Please stay tuned for the OFFICIAL MV IX HOTEL REGISTRATION thread which should be posted within the next 2 weeks (possibly sooner!) :banana2:

***Everyone who is planning on coming needs to start thinking about the following and be prepared to act fast once the hotel is announced:

If you want your room to overlook our Marauderville- exclusive parking lot (so you can see your car/keep an eye on the parking lot activities) you should reserve your room preference for that location right away and specify 2 Queen or 1 King bedded room.

***Rooms overlooking our parking lot are in limited supply. The remainder of our block of rooms will be in the wing of the hotel adjacent to our parking, but not overlooking it. If you don't act fast you will have to get real friendly with the guy across the hall ....to get a peek at your car! LOL!)

I do not know what the record for attendance is/was. However, I am pretty sure that MV III/Woodward Dream Cruise (WDC) in August 2005 topped out at about 100 MMs total. I personally counted 85 MMs in the Burger King lot on Woodward at one time at the main Saturday WDC event. I suspect the only reason that we never got 100 is that there were always cars moving around from one point to another.

Yep, just click on the number in the poll to the right hand side of the bargraphs and all the screen names will appear. This only works if you select "Show Choices" when you set up the poll.

If you want to get a better idea of how many are coming, I have found over the years that if you take 90% of the YES votes, 50% of the MAYBE votes, and 5% of the NO votes --- you may end up with a more accurate tally. Or you may not .... whatever .... ;)

So the adjusted total is: 47-Yes, 18-Maybe/Yes, 1-No/Yes = 66 estimated to attend.

Yes, 100% of the Yes votes would be nice. However, life and unforeseen circumstances can frequently intervene. Especially when the votes are 9-10 months out from the event.

Case in point --- I was an absolute definite YES for Marauderville IV (MV4) in Orlando, FL. Hotel was booked. Registration was made and paid. Had tickets on the Auto Train to Florida ..... and even 4 days booked at Disney World for after MV4. Then I ended up in the hospital the night before departure. **** happens !!!! Others have been similarly impacted shortly before the event.

Paul/Blackened300a had engine trouble enroute to MV7 in Indianapolis. If he wasn't so darned handy under the hood and hadn't brought along spare parts, he may have spent part of "The Invasion of Indy" sitting near a repair shop in Pennsylvania.

I am sure others can cite other no notice disappointments to attendance despite the best of intentions.

This year work will probably cut into the first few days but it's close enough for possibly late Friday, Saturday and Sunday. No surprize wedding plans yet... wish us luck. We have a big family.

We saw their car show last year during our scouting of the area and booked our event that same day. We are locked in for that weekend and they will have to re-schedule. ;)
Not enough room for both of us on the field and we also have use of the conference room upstairs for our trophies and raffles. It may tick off a few mustang owners, but we jumped on it as soon as possible to make it a unique event for Marauderville.
Discount coupons will also be offered for the museum tour so this will be a full day of things to do.

Here's a link to the MV9 Hotel >>>> http://www.bestwesternpa.com/hotels/best-western-premier-the-central-hotel-and-conference-center

I saw nothing about pets anywhere on the site and no mention of "pet friendly" in their info/brochures.

When I did a "pet" search on the Best Western site, the Central Hotel and Conference Center was NOT one of the ones listed. :( The search came back with only 3 in the Harrisburg area. One was in Maryland and 2 others were 50-100 miles away. Maybe another hotel chain .... but the MV9 hotel doesn't look promising for Dave. Probably a direct call to confirm/deny what I found.

Chad is young yet only a year and a half and was found as a stray and spent 6 months in a shelter because he had no training what so ever and was not a calm boy when you meet him. So no one would adopt him even though he was a full Siberian Husky.

He is still wild in nature in a lot of ways and a bit mouthy when he plays or wants something and it took almost a month to house train him for going to the bathroom. But he wants to learn and likes to learn when it comes to tricks like the paw and retrieving a ball and what not.

But on walks he likes to pull and not calm down and will try to take off after anything small that moves so we had to get a harness for him because he constantly makes the semi choke collar work hard and he coughs.

In the car he is very calm but he can tear through a new toy in minutes no matter how tough it is.

Numbers and Hotel registrations are still open ......

From Ramblewood, NJ (NJT Exit #4) that's 120 miles (2+ hours) each way to the host hotel. You'll be spending 4+ hours on the road each day and spending at least $48 per day in gas alone for the 240 mile round trip. If your budget will allow, it probably makes more sense to get a room at the hotel. They are still available.

You will miss out on a large part of the Marauderville activities and interaction if you try to commute in every day. The informal get togethers in the hotel or even hanging out in the parking lot in the evening produce some of the memorable experiences. If you've got 120 miles to travel, you'll be leaving your place at 6:00 AM to meet up for the first activities and then heading back around dinner time. You'll miss alot.

That's alot of driving for a 4 day event. So, I would recommend staying at the hotel for as many nights as you can afford. Just my :twocents:
