i get a very annoying rattle in my exhaust when i get on the gas pedal. i cant seem to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. when i slowly accelerate its not very noticeable, only when i really get on the throttle. took it to my muffler guy and all pipes are tight and seems to have no leaks. any ideas are appreciated.

How many miles on it? Could be one of the catalyst converters.

Can't really say how long they last, they should be good for the life of the car but there are lots of different factors that can break them down prematurely. I had my front set for about 145-147K miles are they worked just fine. Tossed them when I re-did my whole exhaust system several months ago.
Does it do it only when in Drive (in motion with engine under load) or can you sit in Neutral and raise the rpms and hear it?

If they are OEM's they should be warranted for 100K miles......I think??

I think emissions warranty is 80k miles.

Hey there! I own a 2005 crown vic that has a catalytic convertor rattle and I only have 33000 miles on the car. I was considering just punching them out... old school cheap 5.0 mustang style. At least that's what I did. Does anyone know of the possibility of setting a code by doing this? I would love to buy an exhaust system from reinhart, but alas! Can't afford that right now. I will look into the convertors being warranted too.

I just had my cats replaced under warranty a few months ago. They were covered up to 130,000km (80k miles). I took the car in just in time, with 126,000km on it.
They were really rattling, and the car stunk.
The worst part is that I think some pieces blew into one of my mufflers, so now they need to be redone, as they're rattling and vibrating.

Get under the car and tap or bang on the cats. If the material is loose inside you should be able to hear it rattling around.

Yes indeed the warranty is 8 years or 80000 miles. I just confirmed it at local ford dealer. Asf long as the rattle is internal and not just a heat sheild.

Hate to be the bumper of old threads, but did you ever figure out what you trouble was? I have been having the same exact issue you described and you seem to have the same muffler setup as me (Aero turbine 2525). Not sure if it's something to do with that or what....
I won't get the rattle at low speed but when I really get on it. Sometime when I stop at a light I can still hear the rattle.
