Looking to upgrade and dont know if i want a Double Din In-Dash Nav or if i should buy a new Garmin portable unit?

It would be nice to have a "all-in-one' solution for Nav/Bluetooth/ipod integration but i've read mixed reviews.

I've been looking at the Alpine INA-W900BT http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7L1ETkJbXp5/s_500INAW90B/Alpine-INA-W900BT.html but am worried that it may be a compromise vs buying a new Garmin and maybe a Parrot Bluetooth/ipod integration unit for my stock headunit.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Pioneer AVIC-D2 that has worked well for me.

I would recommend a Pioneer 3200BT and then a stand alone Garmin Nuvi.

I also run an Eclipse head unit NAV/DVD/CD/BT combo, works well. The Green illumination matches almost perfect to the stock gauges. Eclipse is no longer in business so product support wont be great but I have never had an issue and the prices have dropped a lot do to this.

I've been considering one. Would like to get something that will allow me to keep my bluetooth hooked up, just in case I decide to use it one day.

I want to keep my Surius Sattelite also

I also want a In Dash but I really don't need navigation. I want dvd/mp3/blue tooth and I don't want them to have to cut my din or do modifications to the dash.

I have one in that family of decks (I think mine is DNX512?) in the excursion and absolutely hated it. The software controlled rear RCA outputs (basically switch between rear and subwoofer out) is the dumbest thing they could have done... Especially when you need outputs for 6 channels and subs... That deck was 550 bucks...

In the marauder I have a Valor, the equivalent of a walmart/no-name brand, but it's by far the best deck I've had in a while. I'm going back and forth between putting one of these in the excursion or building a car-pc. The best part about this one, is that it's one of the few decks that actually sends bass to the midrange speakers, and sends a pretty good amount of it. No longer need a mids/high amp.

Actually there is some fabbing required. You have perform surgery on the lower lip in the opening... or maybe it was the upper lip.....

I just took a look at the Valor on eBay. Seems like a pretty descent unit. Price is nice as well. May just be an option for me. Sure fits the budget

I installed the Kenwood DNX 9140, big bux... I wish I had waited, as the flagship of the Kenwood line when I bought it it was north of $1000. Nice unit, Nav by Garmin, Killer sound, 14 band eq 1 for fronts and 1 for rear.
The high end Kenwood is buggy. it loses my iPod about every 2-3 hours and I have to pull the iPod and reset it, then it is good for another few hours.
If I had it to do over again I would have bought the top AVIC from Pops....

And yes, I had to cut upper and lower lips on the dash bezel and a little trimming in the back of the opening.

I'm still looking at that Valor setup. That's so tempting. Only thing, if u decide use the Navi, you will have to spend another $130.00 or something like that. Still pretty cheap compared to others

It's a DD-858; might be discontinued by now.

Sounds like an installation problem or your not working the functions properly.
I would call the tech department. I have the Kenwood DNX 6140 and love it.

This is my AVIC-F90BT that I bought from Pops.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88/illwood/marauder/AVIC_Install/Stereo-08.jpg

This was right after I installed it and before I added the Pioneer SIRIUS control, so the crap stuck to the windshield isn't there anymore.

Nah, it's just the way they did it...

2V Preout (F&R or Sub)

Very stupid... and you have to turn the stereo off completely (not the normal standby mode) and then on into a setup mode to change the output of the rear/sub RCAs, can't change it while the stereo is on normally...

Check to see what Pops has to say on that one, he may be able to get you a pretty good deal.

If you end up getting it and want a hand installing it, let me know.

I just had a look at it on Amazon and it looks like a decent unit, but it is a touch screen "Multimedia" receiver (no navigation).

So, if you are looking for a decent touch screen music system, that could be a pretty good unit. If you are also looking for navigation, look elsewhere.

BTW, I suggest sending a PM to Pops for all of your Pioneer needs.

The p4200 is what I'm looking at. Price is right and Nav is optional. Plus touch screen

Add the Nav module to it and it works fine. Costs 300 plus for the module.
