As some of you know my son Alex (Marauderboi) was killed in an auto accident in my Trilogy Marauder #145 back in August 13th 2010. I had just bought him his own from a memeber here as you can see in my signiture I asked him to take mine to a friend of his who ownes a shop to have some exhaust work done and he never made it home. I found it very difficult to see his black Marauder a clone of mine sitting in the garage with a car cover on it so I sent the car away for awhile. I got it back the day after Xmas and my brother was in town so he said lets paint it ourselves so we did my sons favorite color was Mustang Grabber blue and his dream car was the GT500.
Thanks to several members here who made donations at Marauderville I used those funds to buy all the materials and paint we would need to do the work. we dedicated the car to my son and called it AJV Marauder his initials here are a few pics of the completed job.

over all i think it looks pretty good. not crazy how the marauder on the bumper was done with the stripes but then again not sure how else you would do it. if it were mine id black the window trim out and powder coat the wheels a gunmetal color like the shelbys are. definitly cool

i was floored back in aug. when i read about alex it really hit home. i have two sons. and could only imagine the pain. i think the car is an awsome tribute to alex and i know he sees it. one can see the love you have for your son in that car.glad to see you didn't take your love for the mm and turn it into a source of pain. quite the opposite.

Wow! That looks awesome! How long did it take? Looks like you guys have some serious time into it.
Ron, it took about 5 days 1 day of just stripping all the parts off 2 days of sanding. Painting was a 2 day process because the base coat had to be applied and the clear had to be shot within 24 hours of the base the hardest part was measuring and painting the stripes.

I don't know if I could have kept anything Marauder related after what happened, especially a complete car. But the other side of me would have done exactly what you did. Looks really classy and well thought out. I must ask though as this is a most serious no-no in these parts, what kind of paint did you use? I don't know much about the new water bourne material as of yet but would think it would still require major filtration? Unless you just have really cool neighbors and police, in which case I envy you. I had the police called for just spraying my hood in a sealed tight garage!
Glad to see all the nooks and crannies done as well, looks great, I love to see different colors out there.

The paint we used is base coat clear coat acrylic ford Grabber blue and ford performance white. we sealed of the garage with plastic and had an exhaust fan out the side door with 2 chambers of sheets to collect the over spray. The neighbors around my house are cool most came by often to check out the progress, even two of my buds 1 patrol deputy and the other a detective with the local Sheriffs Office stopped to see how the work progressed.
