Where is the heater control valve located, that I've read about, in all the overheating threads lately?

OK, how about, does anyone know how often the AC compressor cycles when the defroster is on?

Our cars don't have a heater control valve they use a blend door to set outlet temps like most Ford products for the last 20+ or so years.

The compressor cycle time varies depending on ambient temp as well as the amount of air flow over the evaporator, which is based on both fan speed and blend door position so the cycle time doesn't really tell you much.

Is the light popping sound under the hood during idle, the dreaded blend door repair?

I've read some details on line about this from a Lincoln site, and others, that quotes 2.9 hrs. plus parts, the only concern I have is rattles after it's finished.

No the blend door is behind the dash and when it fails your outlet temp won't change.

The AC compressor clutch does make a snapping or popping noise when it engages. If it is real frequent then that can indicate low refrigerant or some times a bad clutch cycling sw. You can disconnect the electrical connector on the compressor and if it stops making the noise then the noise is the clutch engaging.

So what controls the blending door ?

It's not the compressor, I've watched it engage, and the noise is different, and at a different time.
