Please send me your suggestions and ideas about my pending decision.

I own a 2004 Black Marauder and found a Silver 2003 300B version for a very good price. Here is the description:

Good:
1. Great body with very good paint.
2. Western car until last year so no rust or concerns that way.
3. Great Light Flint interior.
4. All electrical works great! EATC only 8 months old, lights work great, gauges all good, 6 disc CD works, air suspension is working fine and pump is not noisy.
5. Mechanical: Engine sounds good overall, exhaust is nice with Hooker Mufflers which gives it some burble but not too much. Trans shifts good and rear end is silent.
6. Clean Carfax too.
7. Wheels and tires very good condition and correct size for the car (Kumho and Toyo tires F&R respectively).

Bad:
1. When started up initially on cold start there was a rumble, rattle, slight knock from under the car. The guy claims it is a loose catalytic converter on the left bank (his exhaust guy verified this he claims). No other noises under all driving conditions.

2. the car has 149,900 Miles!!!!! This is something I do have concern about. But Synthetic has been used since day one. The original owner drove the car for business and placed 100K the first 2-3 years.

So let me know:

1. How many miles with care can the 4.6 32 Valve Marauder engine run?

2. Has anyone heard of a "Loose Catalytic Converter"? The guy did tell me about this before I started the car (so that is honesty I guess).

3. Any other items I should strongly investigate on a 300B?

Thanks for your help.

Dave

Is this going to be a daily driver? I own a 2004 and a 2003. the 2003 has 110000 miles 99,900 as a Sheriffs car. It has a sound similar to what you describe. I bought it as a driver and mod car. I got it for a fair price 8,900.00 so if it broke I would fix it up better. The 2004 has 46,000 miles and I want to keep the miles down on it. So I guess my answer is if you are not getting it to be a play car and are going to constantly worry about it then do not get it. It is a used car so things are eventually going to break. Mine has been good so far. Good luck on your decision.

I plan to replace my 1992 Crown Vic which I am the original owner of with this one. My Vic has only 73K miles and runs very well. It has a trailer towing package since I have a 24 foot travel trailer and the Marauder will just be my driver for business and mostly too and from the airport.

Yes I know the miles are not a major issue. The sound is more of a concern but glad to hear it may be just an issue with some.

I will probably make a counter offer tomorrow and will update my decision.

Thanks!
