Is this the sound of a bad transmission? It only does it in first gear at 2500 rpm's and only when the engine is cold. The noise stops when I accelerate past 2500 rpm's. I have the car in low gear for this video so I could drive slow and not have it shift into second on me. I haven't noticed any problems with the shifting. It shifts the same as it always had. I just had a routine tranny flush at the dealership about six months ago.

That is a weird noise, might not be a bad idea to have it checked out.

Have you tried to bring up the revs in park or neutral to replicate the sound? It sounds like intake whistle. I never heard a transmission make that sound. Even when I had my issue, I had a loud whining noise, never a whistle.

I tried that. It only happens in first gear. :alone:

It's your drive shaft turning into a banana. No joke.

Realy? I do have 4.10's, but I never felt any excess vibrations. Explain? Why would it make that noise only at a certain rpm only in a certain gear only when cold?
Is there something I can look for to verify this?

try this but you might die, so do at your own risk... jack rear tires off the ground and try to make that noise happen if it makes the noise get a buddy to make the noise happen and crawl under the car (watch your clothes on the spinning shaft) and listen to where it's coming from, for all you know it might be from under the hood.

couldnt be any worse then when my buddy used a come along winch tied to the top of a chain link fence then to the rear of his chevy sprint to hold his car 4 feet in the air while he's under the car wiring his exhast pipe off the ground along a busy road in rush hour... and it as a security fence for a upgrader plant to boot lol.

RocsMerc,
My comment was meant for Ktorres not th OP. Ktorres (3rd post) asked about hearing a (supercharger like) whine when going WOT. This is the DS harmonics (Aluminum) as it reaches it's limit and begins to warp as it spins (banana - not good). This creates that whining sound.

Gear whine? Could be normal in first gear.... I'd also check your fluid level in case they didn't fill correctly.

^^^what Local Boy said^^^
You won't necessarily feel any vibration as it isn't a balance issue, it's a resonance issue. Members have said they had no problems at all, until the tailshaft bushing and seal gave up.

im thinking this may be my problem, after changing the trans seal, only to notice it still leaks, i noticed a bit of play on the shaft, may be time for a tail shaft bushing.
