I just purchased a Superchip from my Mercury dealer motorsports dept for my MM born 10-11-02. I was told by the dealer installation was just a few minutes and he explained the procedure to me. He could not tell me exactly where the computer was. It might be here or there, drivers feet, passenger seat, kick board blah blah blah. I didn't have the car with me at the time so I took the programmed chip and left. ( I had previously given him my computer code over the phone so he could program the chip). Here's my question to anyone out there....I've looked all over the floor but cannot find the 7 x 7 inch aluminum computer box. Do any of you guys now exactly where is this computer box, and if there any tricks to get to it, or what I have to move out of the way or replacing it back to it's original position? All of the other info I have, such as pre-care of the chip, comp plugs etc...I just need to know exactly where this box definitely is, experimental surgery is out....
Jim.

Wow! What a great tutorial! Excellant job and kudos to whoever did that.
Jim, you got a chip from a LM dealer? He evn burned it for you? Did he say anything about the chip voiding your warranty?

I have been told and seen some documentation supporting this:
Ford cannot void your warranty for after-market parts, unless the after-market part, causes a covered part to fail. If a dealer tells you otherwise, they can be sued.
Now, this is what I have heard, I did not see the entire document, only that specific part.

This is true, True Blue, however, your claim will be denied and you pay for the repairs, and sue for recovery. It's happened to members here.
Sarge, do you know of anyone here who has successfully sued any dealers over this? It would be great to have some legal precedents to use if necessary. It might not be the strongest legal authority, but it might be very persuasive when trying to talk dealers into warranty repairs.

Boy, talk about dredging up an old thread...
Frank, that link was lost during a sofware upgrade...I've just placed a reconstituted version in the FAQ, but the pix aren't there yet...hopefully Logan can find them, but the tutorial is still intact.

If it helps here is a link to SEMA that explains aftermarket parts and your warranty.
I had a warrany claim denied once by a Ford dealer because I had a cold air kit on my 93 Lightning, it went to the District rep who agreed with me that the cold air kit did not cause the transmission to blow up and it was fixed under warranty
