Ok guys here is the deal. I am building a 67 SWB F100 and will be tranplanting in a 2003 MM Engine, Trans, PCM, Mustang 2, a 4 link out back and a 9in rear end. The truck will weigh in at about 3750lbs when all is said and done. I am very familiar with mod motors as I have a 2004 Lightning that is about as far from stock as possible and my wife has a 04 Termi in about the same condition. What I dont know as of yet are all the ins and outs of the MM setups. I suspect the coolant crossover is still a good idea etc. What I need from you guys is your knowledge of these setups in particular in order to make my truck as smooth as possible.

What fixes such as the coolant crossover should I do while the engine/trans is still out of the truck?

What Trans mods would be smart? .......valve body.....stall?

What engine mods? I am building this to be my daily, shop truck so I am not going turbo or S/C as of yet. Just want to know where the weaknesses are so that I can address them for later? I know rods will be a concern later so I may toss in some h-beams if I dont decide to just go aluminator later.

What exhaust will sound the most HotRod without getting raspy? I am running Bassani with high flows on both my other Mods. Was thinkin about shorty's an H or X pipe and 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 max. the rest of the way back to keep from getting too big and losing too much torque. What mufflers?

Again I am just looking for a solid, smooth running combo that is reliable and fairly economic for now. Thanks for all your help in advance guys.

Low gears and a stall so a must so you can get out the hole quicker.

If I run a tire that is 27.5in tall I am thinkin a 3.89 rear end. Which should work out damn near the same as you guys with a 28.5in tire and 4.11's

Very cool project. Please post pictures when its installed. Put better rods and pistons in if you boost it. I have a 73 F100 with 390 & 4spd. I run 3.89 out back with 28" tall tire and its great. My brother is putting a7.3 turbo diesel in his 72 F100 should be sweet too.

Put much more than 450rwhp into a stock MM motor and you'll grenade it. Rear cooling mod is a good idea.

Personally I'd go with crate motor if I was doing your project. Good luck with it though.

Also, the auto-show "Trucks!" did a marauder swap into a ranger body. They called it Project Rolling Thunder. They still have the episodes up on their site detailing their break down and build. Here

MarauderPU is doing a similar thing as well.

The stock MM trans is a very good one, 04 more than 03. Mine is bone stock with my s/c doing 40 hard passes at the 1/4 and about a billion stoplight grand prix events. The J Mod isn't neccessary, but it works for alot of folks. I like mine the way it is without it, all I did was add a B&M deep pan. For a daily driver it's perfect so long as you do regualr fluid changes and perhaps add a good cooler.

Any X-pipe will increase the raspyness, H-pipe always sounds better. My exhaust is SW long tube headers, high flow cats, then stock from the h-pipe back. Keeps the dreaded "drone" away and sounds quiet til you hammer it. I'm not modding much more, as it's my DD. That, and modding my wife's new Land Rover is WAY more expensive than I had imagined!
