Just received my Reinhart chip, plugs and 'stat and I have a stoopid question...where IS the thermostat? It it in that little kludge with the 3 radiator hoses hanging down on the driver's side? Do I need a gasket? (Dennis didn't supply one, that's why I'm not sure)

Thanks guys...(and gals!)

You found it; it's in that neato metal thing in front of the engine with the 3 hoses hanging off it...

No gaskets needed, just pull the clamps and hoses off, open the housing and swap it out.

Yep, you got it. Word of advice, the drain petcock valve is there for a reason... Use it. :)

Drain your radiator first and you won't get a huge rush of coolant in your face...

I changed mine the first time and made a mess... Drained a buddies using the drain plug and low and behold, didn't spill a drop.

Thanks...!

I'm trying to work up the nerve to put all my Reinhart goodies in; I'm not this much of a sissy woking on my '68 Buick, but these new-fangled computerised, drive-by-wire cars scare me... if it won't start, or begins to run funny, there are 54,000 things it can be and they're all expensive!

One more question: I've never done coil-over plugs before...anything tricky I should look out for?

There is an O- ring type gasket in the thermostat housing. Watch for it.

On the plugs, just remove the beauty covers, pull the coil, pull the plug, replace plug, drop coil back in... Note that the coil just kinda wraps itself around the plug, it doesn't FEEL like it's on tight enough, but that how it is... For traditional gearheads like us it takes a bit to get used to.

But, plugs should take you all of 20 minutes to change em all out, and that's with a 10 minute beer break.
