2012 Marauder Calendar feeler

So we're moving the old 2008 Marauder calendar thread (above)to this one and continuing on for a potential 2012 version...

First thing I'd like to ask is if we are making it strictly "Maple Leaf Marauders" again, or if we should allow limited other American owners to be featured.

The only reason I say limited, is to keep the workload to a minimum. Just having the 12 guys from last year meant 5 or 6 emails back and forth, plus Photoshopping (referred to as PS from here out). 12 guys x six emails plus PS emails= over 100 emails in total. With only 12 guys!!!
Then I had to take all the other questions and orders as well!
If the pool of applicants is huge, the whole project will get bogged down very quickly.

We'd also need to ask Sully and Peter for their help again, I'm no PS guy at all.

Also, I'm going to list a price of $30 USD right here and right now. If it ends up less, we'll charge that cost but I'm not going to lose my own money again. If people aren't willing to pay that much, I'm out. We could do a lower resolution calendar that's cheaper, but they look really, really cheap. I think the advertised price was $25 last time, and printing plus shipping costs and envelopes put it over that price. Maybe Freakstatus can help me remember.

Then I'd need a feeler on how many folks want to order. (Last time we made 60 calendars and sold them all.)

Yup, any of those are amazing! That's the overall quality I'd like to get this time around, but I know that not many of us have the time to stage and photo cars in that way. Those would be a great start though!:D

Ok, here goes. The car is abosolutely perfect in every shot. Clean, shiny, not dripping wet, no heavy ArmourAll shine on the tires....just perfect.

The first photo is the best, and the reflection idea is spectacular! A few things like the parking lines could be PS'd out, and the plain background keeps the car as the main focus. I'd say it's a 75% photo. The last 3 would need lots of work. Take a look at the mongo oil stain on the ground, people and other vehicles around, and you'll see what I mean about background, foreground, and scenery concerns. Again, the car is flawless, but lots of cropping/PS work would need to be done to those.

Since I want this calendar to be as good or BETTER than the first one, I'll be quite picky. I only want the best shot from and for you guys! I think I'll start a new thread later today entitled "2012 Marauder Calendar" in this section, and we'll continue the discussion there. Please don't post anything else after this final post, just wait for the new 2012 thread. Thank you!

I would let our American cousins participate but to limit the back and forth e-mails and discussions to 0. I would suggest that people can submit photos but the decision whether a particualr persons photo will be included in the calendar is 100% in your (or an editorial boards) discretion, with no appeal, further submission, etc. In other words, no guarantee your photo will be incuded but thanks for submitting.
Perhaps some further refinement but your get the idea.

The quality of the calendar will be similar to the 2008 version but I'll hit up my contact at the Staples Copy and Print production facility to see if he has any better ideas. Price should be around the same.

I have photos from a photoshoot we (Alamo Marauders) did earlier this month, one in particular comes to mind I think would be an AWESOME calendar shot. I need to get moving and get the pics off my phone though... :(

EDIT: looks like I got excited and posted without reading all the posts, Mike already linked up the ones from ludwigvan968. I do have some that aren't from the ones he posted though, and will try to put them up. Not NEARLY as nice, but still taken with the 5megapixel camera on my phone so not at all terrible.

An under-the-car shot of the engine compartment, front suspension or exhaust might be interesting to look at for a month ;)

Or an open trunk full to the brim of something very Canadian - hockey equipment, for example, or the Stanley Cup, or maple leaves (literally fallen leaves collected from maple trees) or snow, or firewood. Or anything interesting, like maybe 8 bodies (probably better if they're living) - everyone always jokes about how many bodies you could fit in the trunk!

Ummm...anything is possible, but getting them scanned and sent via email would be preferrable. That way they can be critiqued pretty easy and suggestions made.
