how would one remove chrome from a plastic grille, the locals here in ohio say no to blasting of any kind as it would mess up the grille. now what?:help:

If you have a chrome shop nearby, ask if they can "unplate". This is just a wild guess.

I think that anything you do to it you will have to paint it....so with that said....a hand sanding that will take forever then some primer and paint....someone else may have another idea. Or you could just find a Marauder or CV grille somewhere....ebay is usually a good option.

I did this to another car I had. I took fine grit sand paper and roughed up the chrome. Then I took to a friend at the body shop where he primed and painted it black for me. It worked out perfect.

I believe in another thread he said he had the newest front-end Grand Marquis..not the same as our Marauders or Crown Vic's grilles.

What he said.....

Sand and paint.

Or buy the one you need.

Save yourself a bunch of work and either lightly sand blast it or bead blast it.....then paint it as you wish!!
