Sunroofs? Did all 4 MM colors get them? I know the SB's got them in '04.

I can't remember ever seeing a black with a sunroof.

IIRC, fastblackmerc's got one.

My DTR had one.

No '03's unless done aftermarket.

Optional OEM equipment.

IIRC, about $1,700 bucks, but I absolutely loved mine in the DTR.

Ahh another reason why 04's are better than 03's.

All 3 '04 colors got them. Blue was only produced on '03 so the only blues with sunroofs are aftermarket installs.

Only thing I got against '04s is that they didn't build 'em in Blue... ;)

2003 Marauder - no factory moon oof option

2004 Marauder - factory moonroof was an option

If you ordered a 2004 Marauder your VIN will say it's and "incomplete" vehicle due to the fact that all cars ordered with a moonroof were sent the ASC to have the moonroof installed.

Sunroof - movable metal panel

Moonroof - movable glass panel

Further to the subject of installed moonroofs, and more to the fact of the "incomplete" status of the car when ordered with this option... If anyone from Canada is planning on importing an 04 with a moonroof you may want to make sure that the VIN is recognized by our RIV (Registar of Imported Vehicles) PRIOR to bringing it through the border.

It is not good enough just to run the the VIN with customs and verify that there are no recalls etc., and bring it into the country. To make a long and frustrating story short, it took me over a month to clear into Canada as after clearing US and Canadian customs. After getting the Provincial inspection done, the final inspection is the Federal one, and this is where it got screwed up, as RIV idendtified the car as "incomplete" and would not Register it.

The problem is that RIV identifies this status the same way they would an RV or truck body that is not completely finished while waiting for customer options or configurations to be installed. RIV insisted I had a RV instead of a Marauder (?) and told me that I would never be able to import it into the country unless I had verification what "modifications" were done, and by whom.

Sounds easy. However, even though I had all the work order and paper work from the original owner (Thanks AL !!) I still needed a declaration that they were Ford approved and had signed off the "incomplete" status when shipped from Ford. Normally this would have been easy, but the dealer or completion center that did the work unfortunately went broke and there was no chance of getting it from then.

Back at home, the gov. here said I would have to take the car back across the border as I would never be able to licence it here. They were pretty hard core about it, and I ended up going to Ford, and found out their customer service department was truly awesome. Unbelievable support from those guys (and gals), and so much so, that I wrote a letter to Ford in appreciation after it was all over.

Getting lucky helps, and after making about 30 calls to the Detroit area, found someone who worked at the completion center who actually remembered the 04 SB and the moonroof install. He still knew the old owner, and I got my letter.

All this was forwarded to RIV, and with help from Ford we finally got it approved.

Although I have imported over 6 cars from the US now, this is a lesson learned!

Thanks to fastblackmerc for bringing up that note, hope it saves someone a hassle down the line...

2DMAX, did you point out to them that the bloody car was made in CANADA not the US? The St Thomas plant is in Ontario, not Detroit.
