The best option is to rebuild yours or have it rebuilt by a local electrical re-manufacturer.

The typical parts store "reman" alternator is not re-manufactured it is repaired with only the parts that are faulty replaced. Others are nothing more than units from the junkyard that have been cleaned and the numbers ground off. Napa does offer some that are truely fully re-manufactured but of course they are priced higher than the standard ones. They also offer 100% new units for some applications but you need to be wary of those as many are made in China and low quality.

A high output alternator isn't needed unless you have a seriously high powered stereo and if it is called upon to continously put out that higher output it will have a short life. Also many high output alternators suffer from low output at low rpms.

I bought a high output alternator from DB Electrical. New unit, not a rebuilt one. Works great at any RPM.

There is a "rebuild" and there is a "rebuild". I have seen many a "rebuilt" alternator end up in the junk pile after a few months.
The warranty thye provide on their product gives you an idea of how long they expect it to last.

Got mine from Reinhart Auto. vendor this site.
Works great. Good inst. Easy to install. Has safety wiring with it.

1 - #8314 Reinhart 200 Amp alternator with original style clutch pulley installed (The cultch pulley allows continuous generation of power, aids in reducing harmonic vibration and alternator damage. It can release additional*hp during shifting.)

1 – Special Wiring kit including:
36 inch 4 gauge passenger side ground cable
26 inch 4 gauge drivers side ground cable
32 inch 8 gauge main charging wire (alternator to ANL fuse block)
10 inch 8 gauge main charging wire (ANL fuse block to fuse box power post)
ANL Fuse Block
200 Amp ANL fuse

The clutch pulley isn't to allow continuous generation of power it's to allow a lower belt tension w/o the belt squealing during high rpm shifts. The lower belt tension improves MPG very slightly along with reducing the stress on the belt and bearings in the accessories which may increase their life. To reduce the harmonic vibrations in the system you need an OAD or overrunning alt decoupler which includes a spring in addition to the clutch.
