Today I purchased a brand new block (aluminum) stroker crank, Manley rods, forged pistons. I think it will be a 5.1 liter but I will double check that. Should have parts by end of next week. I will have the heads gone over. What was the cause for the early head problems. I would like to address that while it's all apart.

Don't really know...don't really care, as long as all the parts I put in are strong.

Probably me, I will have the machine work done from a reputable shop with a torque plate. Then I will have it tuned locally, I hear good things about Extreme.

I think early head castings had coolant flow problems, therefore hot spots. Let me know if you need those casting numbers, I think I saved that in my misc file.

The hotspot issue is with ALL heads the only fix is to do the evenflow cooling mod.

The issue has more to do with heater core routing than it does the head design.

Congrats! Is the block prepped for install (torque plated honed, etc.)? Is the assembly balanced? Have you ever file fit rings? Do you know how to check clearances and tolerances? It may be worth while to find a local engine builder to work with. Good luck and keep us posted!

8 Bolt Flange Cobra style, is this what our marauders use?

No. Stock is 6 bolt. You need a 8 bolt flex plate which are hard to find. If you have an aftermarket torque convertor, see if the bolt pattern is 11.5", if so, you can get that 8 bolt flexplate no prob. If you are using the stock convertor, you need an 8 bolt/10.5" pattern. Part # M-6375-H46 has 11.5" holes and 10.5" marks/dimples for using a drill press to make the correct holes.

Hmmm, I have a P.I. 3500. So I assume I need a 8 bolt flexplate, where is the best place to get that?
