The 03 I just bought has, among other things like rustprrofing and fabric sealant, paint sealant by an outfit called Pro-Tech Seal (http://www.pro-techseal.ca/blairj/promotions/index.html)--.

Anybody know about this sort of treatment? They say (naturally) to use their maintenance products, but does this sort of treatment really negate the use of Mother's/Maguire's/Zymol/Zaino?? Would using any of those screw up the sealant?
Anybody know?--info on the sealant is below.

Thanks.

Paint Sealant

Protects by sealing and strengthening your new vehicle's paint finish. It eliminates the need for monthly waxing to maintain a surface lustre.

This professionally-applied formulation adds a resilient, transparent, high-gloss finish to the modern two-coat paint systems (clear coat / color coat), making it resistant to extreme weather conditions, the sun's ultraviolet fading and surface oxidation due to acid rain and industrial fallout.

With normal hand washing and the use of the Pro-Tech Seal maintenance products to remove baked on road dirt and wash detergent build-up, your car will maintain its original sealed new paint lustre.

Despite what all these sealant companies claim, from what i've been told by Professional detailers and painters, these sealers do not last. A year of washings at the best. I think I'd wash the car with Dawn dish soap, then follow a regimen using quality polish and waxes.

I had a black T-Bird once and it had the clear coat protection. I said I would never get it again. After about a year the paint had a cloudy look and I had to keep a good coat of wax on it. With the right wax it looked good. If you are one to keep a good coat of wax on a car there really is no need for a paint protection.

Hmm. What I am hearing is that I should start a wash-and-wax regime as though the paint's new and hope the sealant doesn't result in clouding after a few months.
Thanks for the comments.

Basically. Do the first wash with Dawn dish detergent, then polish/wax. For washes after that, wash with a quality car wash and polish/wax as necessary
