Went to State Capitol for Test-N-Tune. Testing the MT ET Radial II 305/45/18 on OEM widened wheels. The tech guy asked what was I expecting to run and I said 12.0. He said perfect sleeper.;)
The first run was with the Street Tune at 24psi;
R/T 60 330 Eight MPH 1,000 Quarter MPH
0.238 1.837 5.138 7.845 90.06 10.217 12.216 113.07
The second run was the Race Tune at 20.5psi, slipped at the start and spun on the 1-2;
0.419 1.823 5.064 7.71 92.15 10.017 11.957 116.58
The third run was the Race Tune at 19psi, slipped at the start;
0.145 1.817 5.055 7.7 92.39 10.001 11.937 116.91.
It was 70*/59%, turned on the a/c and cranked up the tunes for the ride back.
A new Challenger with an IC Procharger ran 11.79. A new Camaro SS ran 13.7. There were 3 new 5.0 Mustangs. A stock ran 12.7 and a modified one ran 11.7. One on nitrous ran 10.7.
3 previous generation Camaros ran 12.0, 12.1, 12.3.
Today I was one of the fastest street cars.:D
The MT slipped an 1/8" on each rim. I will continue to drop the pressure on the MT. The MM felt very stable at the top end.

OK, some spun some did not. The groove was narrow. I was doing soft launches.
It was a Test-N-Tune as I was trying out several different things in addition to the new tires/wheels.

i went to test n tune a couple of weeks ago, temperature was in the mid 40*'s i did 4 passes the car did not hook on any of them. my best 60' was a 1.86 spinning the slicks at 16psi on the tires, and best time was 12.0 at 115mph. i ask the track official why no one was hooking and they said it was too cold, come to find out they only cleaned the track and didint put vht in it. they were over 150 cars there and most hi powered car guys were dissapoited with their times.

It happens, I usually see it at Test-N-Tunes and Street events.
Most of the race only trailer cars usually have more traction than power and rarely spin out.
I usually wait until several race only trailer cars have run. I go to the fan area and look at the launch area for the grove, water box and watch how the cars launch, particularly those with the same tires as me.
I stopped going to the "Street" only events due to poor traction from all the burnouts with the street tires. For many the burnout is their "contest".
Some just need education. A guy had a beautiful black Cadillac CTS with expensive wheels. Every run he would drive thru the water box draging water on the launch pad. He broke a "trans link", his words. I complimented his car and when he was talking to me about it I sugggested he drive around the water box so as not to drag water with the front tires possibly losing traction. He wasn't happy with my suggestion but understood it. Frankly I am more concerned with the person behind him losing traction than him.;)
