Hey Guys,

Wondering if there are any 35 and younger Marauder owners out there. I had my eye on the Marauder back in June. But all my friends were making fun of me for wanting this car... so I ended up with a custom supercharged Toyota Tundra. BUT I really like the Marauder... I have had a Mustang GT, '99 Lightning, and '01 Corvette before the Tundra.

But the $2000 cash back looks pretty good to me. The Merc just keeps calling my name:rolleyes:

Any of you leasing yours? If so do you mind me asking about what you are paying a month? I'm guessing it will be pretty close to my Tundra. After all I added on to the truck it toped out at over $33K.

At 6'4" I can't handle the 2 door sports cars. Tried it... and was unhappy.

Thanks in advance!
Jeff
P.S. This is a great forum

I am 33 and my fellow aviators told me the car aged me 10 years. I don't agree with them at all about it being an "Old mans car". They have no idea of its capabilities and performance. They now call me Pimp Daddy P. It still amazes me how so few people know what a Marauder is. Amatures..............

I know of 2 MM owners under 30 with one at 27. If you like a particular car who cares what anyone else thinks.

Hello! Im over 35 BUT, GO FOR IT!! I am 6'6'' and traded a 01' F-150 off road 4X4 with under 5000 miles! I have had "big Merc" since I was a "kid". Maybe a GM or CV might be called a "old farts" car but, not the Marauder! I like Piglet's comment about people not knowing what it is. The car is a sleeper! I grin ear to ear when I pull up next to a "honey bee" and a "kid" asks me why my car rumbles? Feel sorry for them for they do not know the thunder of American Iron! Had a '70 X-100! Boy if I had it now!!
Enjoy the car! Get it and sell the rice burner!!!

Ps: Might put a small sign in rear "no its not a cop car" (haha)

Who cares what your friends say. It's not their money you are spending, so you shouldn't feel you have to buy something they like.

There are many guys under 35 who own Crown Victorias, Grand Marquis, Police interceptors, etc. Maybe once your friends actually see you in yours they will think twice about their own inadequate Japanese wannabe real cars.

31 here. :)

Most of my friends were like "WTF!?" when they first heard me talking about it. After they saw, heard it, and got a ride in it not one of them now thinks it is weird.

Not all of them are convinced with the big car thing, but every single one of them think it's a killer car.

Two of them were in the car with me today when I smoked a 300M but good. I know, 300M big deal, but a 300M could cook and eat anything that my friends drive, so it was something of an eye opener for them on the performance side of things.

I own the biggest car of anybody I know that is my age, but I dig that. It's unique and to hell with anybody who doesn't get it. Actually, the fact that many people don't get it is part of what I like about the car. :D

I am 32 now and, even though I still don't actually own one of these sweet dreams yet, I bought my 94 Impala SS brand new when I was 23! The reason?, I had customized a 78 Malibu (was green with vinyl) and painted the whole thing black. All the features the Impala SS had (exterior, interior, driveline specs, etc) I had either already done or wanted to do to the Malibu (still have the Malibu but is undriveable from a motor vehicle accident years ago). The point is, the car directly resembled the type of ride I was already driving.

When I was checking out one of the Impalas at the dealer, there were to other guys there doing the same thing. What kind of cars may you ask were they there with? One had a 87 Grand National and the other had a Thunderbird Super Coupe.

Besides, the true man's muscle car should permit you to "get down" in the back seat (you need room for that). Need I say more.

Soon there will be ample competition in this category from GM and Chrysler (but I still think the Marauder will hold the honours for most room in the back, I think even more than the Impala SS. The SS lacks headroom in the back).

Great to see all you young guys getting into Marauders. A lot of us old guys were afraid we'd see the young guys desert big cars. And the fire doesn't burn out. I'm 73 and would rather hang out here with you all than drink coffee in the morning with the group down at my local mall.

A word to you all: DON'T GIVE UP YOUR CARS WHEN THEY GET OLDER. STORE 'EM AND SHOW 'EM!! My only regret is I shouldn't have let loose of the '66 Shelby and the 69 Galaxie XL GT.

Logan - that is one GORGEOUS XR7!!!

I'm not yet a Marauder owner - but within 6 months I will be :). They're currently stickered at $47K Cdn., and dealerships will more than likely have plenty to get rid of at the start of summer, with lower than MSRP stickers, rebates, and cheaper financing.

I too am only 23, and have had my Marquis for 2 years now (a Marauder impersonator :D!), and love the thing.

Don't give up on the old cars, eh Bill? I won't - my summer car is a black 92 XR7 (5.0 HO), and I'll still own it 30 years from now :).

Ford could have done a much better job marketing the Marauder to a younger crowd (like having a VISIBLY YOUNG old guy tear up the track), as opposed to the hemeroid cushion ad  , and it would be more popular with the younger crowd, and more people be aware of what it is to it's fans.

I'm 42 years young, and I love muscle cars. Back in the early to mid 80's I almost bought me a Chevy Monte Carlo SS, and a Buick Grand National GNX, I don't regret not buying either one because what I wanted was a five(5) speed and neither car came with that option so I waited a couple of years and bought me a 1989 Ford Mustang GT. With a big family now I need the room without sacrificing performance so that's why I now own a Marauder. "LOVE IT".

Thanks for all your posts. I can clearly see the Marauder is just as popular with some of the younger generation :)

My path to the MM was similar to Gonzo's

Mid 80's I did buy a Monte Carlo, though at 24 the SS was a little too painful insurance wise so I bought the sport coupe (Which I still own).

In 89, I too bought a 5.0 Mustang GT. A car that had an awesome motor in a vehicle that wasn't fit for a four cylinder. (Drum brakes, a football field to stop from 60, you get the picture.) Still, the car had a real personality and I loved it.

In 94 I bought a decked out Z28. I was on the fence as to the Z or the Impala SS. The Z won out. Great car, bad ignition system. It ate 3 of them in 3 years (Parts alone were more than $600 at a crack.) When the warranty was gone, so was the car.

With the Z gone, I started looking for another RWD car, now that I am "Da Da" with two kids. I find there are none to be had except for imports, the CV or the GM. As the average buyer of the CV or GM is 60+ and my wife doesn't care for blue hair, I am shut out. In 20 years I have never owned anything except american iron but now I am orphaned. So, I buy a 3/4 ton suburban with a 454.
(Still have the 'burban.)

Net is: I have been waiting 5 years for a car like the MM. I think the paint jobs are a little weak but the fact is I would have bought one in primer and had it painted myself if need be - just to get one.

Go ahead and buy one, you won't be sorry.

well , apparently I'm the oldest so far---am 55 and I've had Vics and all but was raised with the muscle cars from the 50's and am blank blank glad it's about time we put some back on the road that an ordinary harding working man/woman can buy and begin to feel the fun of driving all over again at the slightest touch of the pedal...all of you who own one know what I mean--even before doing or thinking of doing any extras to the monster you can have all kinds of fun against the cars out there==after all--in our MM's we may look " big and heavy" but are they surprised------oh Yeah!!!---

I'm 18 (god... I feel like such a youngin'! :D ) and it's the only type of car I'd have! I've driven my 1979 Lincoln ever since I could drive, so big cars are my thing. When I heard of Mercury coming out with a big car that goes FAST, I was sold (black helped the decision even more)! I've got a friend with a 2000 Camaro SS that I've driven. It's a badass car, don't get me wrong, but I couldn't stand driving a small car everyday... I look at my Marauder everyday and say, "God, this car is SO ME!" I'm lovin' it! :D
